The team is ready – Col Kafumukache

Green Eagles Chairman Col Jimmy Kafumukache says the Kawale Boys are ready for today’s game against Sensational Zanaco at Choma’s Independence Stadium.

Kafumukache who was speaking in an interview with ZNBC Radio said the team was very prepared for this afternoon’s rescheduled week 20 encounter.

“The team is 100% ready and as I speak now the team is in camp and We are very well prepared for this afternoon’s encounter against Zanaco,” he said.

This follows yesterday’s social media reports that some Green Eagles players including some stuff members had tested positive for COVID-19.

Col. Kafumukache has however cleared the air about the situation saying the club is ready and free of COVID-19.

“No wonder you called it social media reports, basically we don’t respond that, what people need to know that everything as been put in place with the recommendation from the Ministry of Health, so what is important for now is that issues to do with health matters those are well handled with the ministry of Health and those are the only people that are allowed to make comments of that but as regards to the team what is important is to ensure that the team is ready for the encounter and the team is in camp and all those that are in the camp are actually free from Covid-19,” He said.

“The situation is that the morale is high very and the boys are looking forward to collecting maximum points we know what is at stake and indeed the win this afternoon takes us top and there is nothing that is going to stop us doing that, the morale is very high, the team is very focused and therefore, we are ready.”

“Basically those are matters that are dealt with by the Ministry of Health and am not qualified to handle those type of issues and so those queries can be answered by the ministry of health,” he adds

When asked about what he thinks about calling off the league as some stakeholders have been advocating for, Col Kafumokache said there was no need to start going backward but continue going forward and just follow the health guidelines given by MOH.

“As I indicated early on what is important is before recommendations were put in place for the league to resume stakeholders were consulted the ministry of Health, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and FAZ indeed the key thing is to ensure that all measures are put in place and no life is in danger and I believe that the right thing is done, the right rules are followed as they have already been outlined by the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Health as long as these things have been followed there is actually no need of us to start going backward we need to ensure that we remain focused we are only remaining with 9 games and surely we can do it,” he said.

The Kawale boys are up against the Bankers this afternoon in a week 19 rescheduled fixture in what is expected to be a mouth-watering encounter in Choma at the famous Independence Stadium.

A win for Zanaco may take them to seventh place while a win for Aggrey Chiyangi’s Green Eagles will take them to the summit of the log.
