Sven watches three matches in 48 hours

New Chipolopolo Boys coach Sven Vanderbroeck was at Nkoloma Stadium as the Zambia Under-20 hosted South Africa in a friendly match on Sunday.

The Belgian born coach who arrived on Friday in the country has been in the thick of things.

Straight from the Kitwe derby on Saturday, Sven was spotted at Edwin Imboela Stadium in a lunch time kick off on Sunday as Zesco United beat National Assembly 2-0.

Instead of watching the second of the double header at Edwin Imboela Stadium between Nkwazi and Green Buffaloes, the new Chipolopolo gaffer opted to join FAZ President Andrew Kamanga at Nkoloma.

Sven was appointed last week and his first competitive match will be away in Windhoek in September against Namibia.

Both Zambia and Namibia lost their respective games to Mozambique and Guinea Bissau  on match day 1.

Until his appointment as Chipolopolo coach, Sven was Cameroon assistant coach.

He is the first foreign coach since the AFCON winning coach Herve Renard and Patrice Beaumulle left for Ivory Coast.

The Belgian’s contract is being bankrolled by government and his monthly salary is around $10, 000.

  1. Good to know the coach has hit the road running. Who are the rest of the technical bench? He needs to be doing this with his assistants.
