Super League resumption gets even closer after Presidential assurance

The country’s football governing body, The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) suspended all football leagues back in March following the deadly Coronavirus rapid spread.

The Association has in the recent past hinted on the league resuming with mid-July set as the tentative date.

This is slowly becoming a reality after the President, His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu assured sports fans that sports activities will return as soon as the Ministry of sports in conjunction with the ministry of health can assure that sports arenas are ready for action.

This was contained in a statement by State House Press Aide Isaac Chipampe which was made available to the ZamFoot Crew.

“We look forward to the day when sports will be back,” H.E Edgar C Lungu.

Non-contact sports activities such as tennis and golf were given green light to resume back in April.

The Minister of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga and top FAZ officials had a meeting last week. The meeting was called so that FAZ could present measures they plan to put in place to safely resume full training and matches.

When the league went on a break, Forest Rangers were leading the log with 46 points from their 24 games, followed by NAPSA Stars (45 from 25), Green Eagles (44 from 24), Nkana (43 from 24) and Zesco United (42 from 24).
