Southampton terminate Mayuka’s contract

Southampton FC have terminate Emmanuel Mayuka’s contract two years ahead of time.

The Zambian international who joined the Saints from Swiss side Young Boys has failed to make a mark in the English Premier and has not scored a goal in the three years he has spent at the club.

  1. Regrettable but absolutely understandable move by Southampton FC. Mayuka just didn’t fit the bill irrespective of the amount of game time he got. Despite flashes of signs of potential, he just never looked like one whose performances deserved more game time as a substitute never mind a regular starter.

The positives are that he’d have had leant a lot by now to help him wherever he ends up. He’s also still young and looks a determined lad. This though is hugely disappointing to him and it must serve as a severe notice of warning to those harbouring premiership ambitions. The demands are atrocious and unforgiving. You need a thick skin to make it. Hopefully Mayuka can find another good club in Europe or even in the championship right there in England.

  2. Let him go to netherlands, Belgium, Portugal or Switzerland. The game in England, France and German is beyond Mayuka’s ability.

  3. Too bad but it was expected with the way he was playing the performance has gone down put everything in God’s hand it shall be well bro

  4. Suck is a shame, but the youngman just need to use this as a motivational situation and go work extra hard, If someone right there in the UK can believe in this youngman, then they need to sign him so he can come back and inflict would on the saints. Off field, Mayuka is a good kid, and he just need someone that belives in him and he will work hard to return the favor, just opinion. This is not time to bash Mayuka, but time to support him, I personally still believes in him. He will bounce back with anger which will lead him to succeed. This is not Mbesuma’s situation where the guy was indiscipline with Chibuku, this is a young man that has alot to offer and was not given enough chance. MARK my words, MAYUKA WILL COME BACK A BETTER PLAYER than before. Signed TC.

  5. I saw this coming..but This is not the end of the world.Muyuka will get a club before the start of the season..

  6. If they did, then that’s a bold stupid move, the least they could do is relegate his to reserve team where he would get game time and if that fails then we have a problem. Either way, Mayuka should not despair, he is only 24yrs old, his prime years ain’t even there yet, if he was 27-29, then we would forget about him. He should just go to maybe Holland or France. Screw England, England only respects West Africans.

  7. They rushed him into England, as a matter of fact a lot of African players that do well in England start by playing in France, Netherlands or other good leagues not Switzerland. The one’s that comes into mind are, Essien, Drogba, Adebayo,Kanu, Okocha. All these guys were big names in France before they went to England. After Youngboys, Mayuka should have gone to France or Holland or Spain not to England, this should be a lesson to the young one, DO NOT GO TO COLONIAL MASTER, Colonial master is still bitter and they destroy your talent like they for Mayuka and Mbesuma. Another proof that Swiss football is weak is seen with the Egyptian striker Salah Chelsea signed. He failed to replicate the form he had in Swiss league. Either way good luck to Mayuka, all shall be well.

  8. Its hard to believe. Southampton wil never let mayuka freely . If they are longer interested in him they wil sell him . This is speculation to me. Mayuka wil never be desperate . Two clubs from Russia n Spain are after his signature . Even in England clubs in championship are after him. Mayuka is the most decorated player at that club.

    • I know, sounds weird that they would terminate a contract without cashing in. With your reasoning, you sound more to be correct than the nonsense article, I have also been searching for other sources, but nothing concrete.

  9. Why are you guys wasting your time crying. Mayuka can play for any club in europe. This boy is a big time baller and the first zambian to bring a Bentley continental to zambia. Mayuka is a former afcon winner he can play for any club in europe that he wants. In fact southampton was just wasting his time. Mayuka is so lethal even without game time he scored against Tunisia. This boy will find another club in europe.

    • Sounds like you are campaigning for Mayuka. We all know what Mayuka brings to the table. But reciting Mayuka’s achievements or what he is capable of is immaterial to Southampton or indeed any other club. It’s up to Mayuka to do the talking on the pitch to convince coaches of his abilities.

  10. I love the way us fans are always quick to say he should just go to this place and that place like he has a whole lot of offers on the table for him to just choose from. Truth be told it will be pretty hard for Mayuka to find a European club right now for the simple fact that he has failed to tick in two consecutive European leagues, France and England. This has put a serious dent in his reputation as a lethal striker. Any coach or club scout will consider him with a pinch of salt and not outright at this point. Its looking very unlikely Saints will play in Europa next season so it only makes logical sense to cut out the weakest links in the club. Jay Rodriguez and Pelle have been exceptional, if I was on the board at the saints I would improve these guys packages but splitting Mayukas package between them. This way my wage bill doesn’t increase and I hold onto some of my best players. Its business.

For me as a Zambian this is very disappointing news, I was hoping he could bounce back next season but he has had three years to prove himself and has failed to do so as such I’m not entirely surprised. He still has a work permit but I wonder if that agent of his has solid inroads in Europe beyond Isreal. Lets wait and see. But then again this article also needs verification, I also did not pick this story up anywhere else.

  11. @ john . Well said , mayuka can never be desperate . He is our number one striker . At his club he never failed . The boy was not given enough chance. In France he did not fail . Scouting report revealed that he was the most improved player .

  12. This was expected anyway. He better find a club in Europe or better still go back to Switzerland, his former club.

  13. Ghana winger Andre Ayew has been named the 2015 Marc Vivien Foe award winner which is for the best African Player in the French Ligue 1.

The Olympique Marseille ace beat competition from Ivorian Max-Alain Gradel (Saint-Etienne) and Tunisian defender Aymen Abdennour who plays for Monaco.

Ayew will receive his award on Monday evening by Radio foot International on RFI (Radio France Internationale).

He replaces Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who won the award last year after his exploits with Lille.

Ayew has scored ten goals this season and helped Marseille to fight for a qualification to Europe as they lie fourth on the table.
