South African FIFA Referee Zennith Akhona Makalima has been appointed as the Referee to officiate Saturday’s 2022 Costa Rica FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second round second leg Qualifier match between Malawi and Zambia slated for Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Makalima is not new to Zambian Football as she was recently the center Referee in July this year during the 2021 COSAFA Men’s Championship match between Zambia and Lesotho which saw Dikwena breaking history by winning their first match 2-1 against the Copper Bullets.

Makalima will be assisted by countrymates Nobuhle TSOKELA and Maneo Evodia TAU who will be the first and second assistants respectively.

The fourth official Tania Marisa DUARTE is from Angola while the match commissioner Palmira Pedro Francisco is from Mozambique.

Precious Kadzamira is the Covid-19 Officer from Malawi.

The Young Copper Queens are carrying a comfortable 6-0 scoreline from the first leg played a fortnight ago in Lusaka so the Young Scorchers need to overturn this scoreline with the overall aggregate winner facing Ghana in the next round after Mauritania pulled out of the race.

The match will kick off at 15:00hrs.
