South Africa, Senegal in semis as Amajita set-up clash with Zambia

South Africa on Sunday afternoon bounced back from a loss to Senegal to beat Sudan 3 – 1 to set up a date with Zambia in the semi finals of the 2017 Zambia Total U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Senegal completed the semi-finals qualification list when they beat Cameroon 2 – 0 to confirm their position as group winners on seven points.

South Africa were first on the score sheet in Lusaka when Phakamani Mahlambi netted in the 15th minute.

Khaled Osman then stunned the favorites in the tie with an equaliser in the 24th minute.

The score remained the same at half time but Amajita went ahead in the 60th minute when Grant Margeman finished a rebound.

They put the tie beyond he reach of Sudan six minutes later when Sibongakane Mbatha who was the eventual man of the match guided a cross from the left to the far post for the game to end 3 – 1.

South Africa will stay in Lusaka for a Cosafa affair that will see the two teams meet on Wednesday for the third time in three months.

Zambia triumphed over Amajita in  the final of the Cosafa U20 Championship before beating them again in a friendly match at Nkoloma stadium in February.

Senegal on the other hand comfortably beat Cameroon with goals from Ibrahima Niane 45′ and Krepin Diatta 47′.

They will play Guinea in the other semi final in Ndola.

  1. Zamfoot, so who qualified; Cameroon or Senegal? The headline says Cameroon but the article says Senegal!

  2. Zambia should not go into this game over-confident, please mwebana besu don’t under estimate these Amajitas take them as if you are meeting them for the first time and give them a solid team which with specific instructions to take the game seriously.

  3. I am shocked that some chaps here think it will be an easy game. ….u dummies!!! Don’t u know that like a derby this is a tricky tie where form does not matter? ??…..I fear the coach failure to rest key players may haunt us come Wednesday. …

    • How long do they want a rest ? They played on Saturday to play again on Wednesday, 3 days is enough thats a tournament. Ekukosa.

  4. I would have loved to meet one of the West African teams instead of Sasafrica. It is always a problem to play a team which you always beat. I fear for Zambia for two reasons:
    (1) it gets to your head and it is very difficult to shake it off after all they are your whipping boys. @-1 at the COSAFA Finals and the same margin in the last friendly- this will go to our your boys heads, but I hope they shake it off and triumph; and
(2)Sasafrica will want to prove a point. Their lacklustre performance in the tournament so far not withstanding, they will come out with their guns blazing.
That aside, our boys’ pace, home crowd and aggression should serve us well and see us through. We will also have 3 days rest, while they will only have 2, which could be to our advantage.

Wish the young Chipolopolo a blessed Wednesday.

  5. Zamfoot I hear your advise but it hate me a lot to see how people insults kalu here day and night as if he has killed someone you should also advise people like Richpopo slim tc soccerman to stop insulting kalu because he is no longer a faz presdent as longe as they attack kalu I will be attacking them too

  6. not good for southern africa they should have topped the group to avoid. Zambia so them and zambia could eliminated west africans in the semi finals and final game would have been a southern african dama. South africans are themselves to blame for been careless in game they pkayed against senegal

  7. d only thing that cn stand between amatjita and d win z that unplayable pitch …our boys are not able to play their normal game on that thing

  8. d pitches are not playabla ,amatjita are not used to such pitches is difficult for them to play their normal flowing game ,

    • What are you saying we beat you in your backyard during the cosafa on your so called good pitches!!! Why are you trying to come up with excuses already. I understand the fear factor is working but don’t use the pitches as an excuse.

  9. Kalu has done a lot for this country he does not deserve these insults and this hatred because the ACC cleared him of all the corruption allegations and yet some people on this blorg are still calling him corrupt.zamfoot can I ask you a question who is suppose to pronounce a person gulty is it the court or tc soccerman,Richpopo and slim tell me zamfoot I’m waiting, because as far as the zambian constitution is concern a person is innocent untill proved gulty by the court of law

    • Oh come on shut up this is not an article about Kalu cant you read the Headline? Whats wrong with you? Thats being shallow even ZamFoot has been trying to snap that thing out of your head but you keep on dragging the same thing from article to article. Lets be mature, unless you are U17.

  10. He stole biggie ana emwe just stop making noise for him,it was just because of luck of evidence and somehow political

  11. Sorry did I miss something here, is the thread not speaking to the semi finals to be played on Wednesday/Thursday or is it talking about Kalu?

    • Thats just some childish character, its even irritating we are busy planning how to handle Amajita and he is everywhere talking about Kalu like he is the girlfriend.

  12. Ba mashina (undefeated Guru)…..We are tired and fed up of Kalu. ….yes he has done a lot for Zambian football but so have many other people. …the didn’t behave the way he behaves. ….The guy acts like he owns football in Zambia. ….He is a very selfish guy. ….why can’t he move on and let Kamanga be….why do we behave like Kalu has to be involved in football for things to go well?…..Kalu as much as he did some good also messed us up big time….do u know why we do not have a kit sponsor? ??? No one wants to supply a kit because of how Kalu and his corrupt clique screwed up the Nike deal by making fake replicas in China. ….how can an FA be so unprofessional? What about the many stories of misappropriation that discouraged sponsors from giving FAZ support even after we won the Afcon. …. As much as I appreciate Kalu as a footballer …..He must go….His time is up….He does not own Zambian football….we are tired of his trouble making….

  13. To me this derby with South Africa cant make our boys relaxed, just look at how they took all the three games played thus far, they have maintained the same zeal and eager to score more goals, yes Amajita we have beaten them many times but that wont take our boys off the ball, all Zambia want is the CUP. All what we need to do is to take care of their winger who is fast and feeds balls on the left side to the 18 area, all goals were identical and came from the same lad. Lastly holding down this Singh chap will bury South Africa even deeper. Thats it!

  14. Kalu Fails FIFA Integrity Test, Thrown Out Of The Race But Quickly Announced His Withdraw

    March 5, 2017

Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive committee member Kalusha Bwalya has failed a FIFA integrity test and is subsequently out of the race for a position on football’s most powerful executive committee.
Kalusha has however made a haste announcement he was dropping out of the race, but offered no reason.

Kalu’s sudden decision has caught Zambia by surprise weeks after he caused a firestorm in the local association when he demanded a nomination letter.

Kalusha hopped out of the race after it became clear FIFA was demanding answers he did not have. The allegations ranged from him bribes to professional misconduct.

Sources at FIFA have disclosed that Kalusha’s candidature was blighted with numerous allegations of impropriety.

And as a result, the FIFA Ethics Committee wrote Kalusha a letter containing more than 10 question asking him to clarify the allegations.
The FIFA officials have disclosed that Kalusha was asked to explain a lot of allegations including two legal challenges he had lost in the Zambian court which included failure to pay bills on time leading to the former soccer star losing his house in Lusaka’s Woodlands area.

FIFA also questioned dubious contracts Zambia had entered when Kalusha was head of the local FA, chief among them the Nike kit sponsorship that was cancelled in acrimonious circumstances.

Other than issues to do with domestic affairs, Kalusha is accused of collecting bribes in connection with FIFA campaign when Qatari businessman Mohammed Bin Hammam wanted to challenge the fallen Sepp Blatter.
Kalusha admitted to receiving over US $80, 000 from Bin Hammam which he claimed was a debt but no such figures have ever reflected in the FAZ financial statements.

The local investigatory body, the Anti Corruption Commission, attempted to take up the matter but bowed to political pressure.
FIFA sources disclosed that while Kalusha had obtained clearance from ACC, he failed to answer pertinent questions regarding the circumstances of US $80, 000.

FIFA is not relenting in stamping its authority on the game and promoting transparency. Last year, Gordon Derrick, the general secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association, also failed an integrity check and blocked from running for president of CONCACAF, the sport’s regional governing body for North and Central America and the Caribbean.

FIFA is yet to make a decision on Kalusha’s withdrawal. The Ethics Committee has also written other candidates like Danny Jordan of South Africa, Ghana’s Kwesi Nyanteki and Leodenga Tenga of Tazania.

Kalusha gave an interview with a Kenyan journalist in which he announced his withdrawal from the FIFA race although the world soccer governing body was soon to announce he did not pass the integrity test.

    • But you guys. We try to tell ba Undefeated to stop and then you post things like this; he won’t stop talking about Kalu. Ello, do we even know if this is true?

    • Going by this story. As the saying goes, “always make peace with your past so that it doesnt come to haunt your present or rather future”. His simply reapping the seeds he sowed。

  15. I dont like what Danny Jodan, is saying on the media, that South Africa is better than Zambia U20. The coach also blame game saying the field was unplayable. I saw Zambia U20 team having difficulties on the same pitch, but did we complain no. I like what you are saying to motivate your players.

Come wednesday, you will see and fill, what it means to be dealt by chipolopolo.

  16. Congratulations U20 for giving us hope for Zambian soccer in the near future. Gents hv u noticed every success on the pitch is followed by negative comments from Undefeated Guru and his cohotes! Lets ignore him, just as a farmer dicards a rotten apple from the barrel! Let us concentrate on the forth coming game! i must say i was disappinted by Chambeshi for no resting the front liners. he shud have used Mwape,Luchanga and Kalunda!

  17. we hv been asking questions here! IF Kalu bothered to clear his name, the cadidature wud hv gone thru. Now Fifa has cracked th whip! 6o on Guru, now laugh!!

  18. @ S L I M @ P u n g w a

You are the type of pipo who are very concerned about the success of others. When kamanga gives you a match ticket for 1 usd, you think you have arrived.
Instead of giving your kamanga a wise counsel you tell him to write to Caf not to include kalu among caf delegates.
Faz can not dictate to CAF, how do you tell your boss that he should not vist your working place ?

    @ T H E G U R U,
I am deeply sorry to bring the above issues , if S L I M & P u n g w a willl not stop we shall take them on. If they want comparison between the two we are ready.

  19. @ P U N G W A
You must be a big cheat, you can only cheat those who think like you. Do you even watch Zambian football ?
What you have written is full of lies.
Nike deal was not cancelled, it came an end and Nike wanted to renew with the same terms it was faz that wanted better terms.
There is no such information from FIFA, That is the information from your kamanga who is scared of kalu presence at the afcon.
Heroes are not feared but celebrated.

    • Lol. Okay apo pena mwa bepa. Unless your sources are different; the Nike deal ended, but it was FAZ who wanted to renew but couldn’t because they were selling replica jerseys.

This has been highly documented and even the General Secretary testified to that effect. Mwaisa nama walla imwe. Ello mwa leta no bufi.

Lets just agree that this thing is over. Kalu had his time and now it is Kamanga’s turn. It’s not about picking sides, it’s about Zambian football. This is the problem with some people. You follow the person not the leadership. That is not to say Kamanga or Kalu is a better leader, it is to say that you can’t defend everything simply because you are invested in the person making the decisions.

  20. @Grand, I am just sharing what has been published elsewhere. It is up to anyone to draw conclusions, either believe if it sounds sensible or discard,, Chapwa !

  21. @ pungwa
Don’t bring false publication here, there is no such information from Fifa
Eg the Nike deal was not cancelled but the contract came to its end.

  22. Grand! the problem with these blorgers here is that they are only interested to see kalu fail.I have answer them a question who pronounce a person gulty of stealing?is it the court of law or the batch of selfish individuals up to now they haven’t answered my question.we are not living in the world of illusion but present facts and evindence don’t just hulloscinate issues like that

  23. Pungwa go and check on supersport news or FiFa news kalu withdraw his candidate on his own that news was fabricated by the zambian reports we all know those people have issues with kalu and talking about the corruption allegations he was cleared by the ACC the records are there for every one to see

  24. Ba Guru is kalusha the only footballer this country has produced…
? Why does he have to be involved in football forever and ever… why can’t he find other ways of earning a living. …..We are tired of him sniffing around FAZ looking for scraps and causing trouble

  25. Grand you can count on me I’m alwaya ready to take on these kamanga children.we all remember what happen in 2011 when kamanga, smataa smataa and with the help of Rupiah banda how they wanted to force kalu out of FAZ kalu was only rescue by FIFA you see what type of a person kamanga is,he even went on to the extent of forming a pallarel FAZ and a pallarel league so who is selfish between the two? can someone answer me please all these things happen in 2011 the records are there for every one to see.its high time that some of these things we should talk about them we should also look at the other side of a coin too

  26. Soccer guru kalu made his name in football so why should he leave football?so you see that you have personal hatred for him.you can’t remove kalu from zambian football no matter what. so mr soccer guru bring out real isues here NEXT please

  27. Telling kalu to stay away from football its its like you are telling the medical doctor to stay away from the patients so you see mr soccer guru that’s why I said stop this hatred for kalu.kalu has left FAZ and he has moved on with his life but why are you blaming kalu for kamanga failures

  28. Telling kalu to stay away from football its its like you are telling the medical doctor to stay away from the patients so you see mr soccer guru that’s why I said stop this hatred for kalu.kalu has left FAZ and he has moved on with his life but why are you blaming kalu for kamanga failures.zamfoot why are you blocking my coments

  29. Guys enough of fighting,y cant we unity just for this championship(U20Afcon)comes to an end then Bring our diffrnces later, the whole country is united and ralling behind the team, soccer unites people allover the world, and y can’t we unity for this seek, back to game, the coach must. Not use. That sakulanda chap,he’s a bit nervious and almost costed us. Big time, luchanga and kalunga can do. Us proud

  30. @ The undefeated Guru, its not like I am celebrating Kalu’s withdrawal from the FIFA race ( who wouldn’t like to have a Zambian in such a position ). He is our Hero and I have always celebrated his positive achievements. Its just that things went off the rails in his admin at FAZ and the results are now showing. Even the BBC reporter also asked him about this integrity test so obviously there cant be smoke without fire.

  31. Sorry it’s a Caf certified pitch. Sasaflika(south Africa) booked a date with the young Chipolopolo on what you call unplayable pitch….

The junior Chipolopolo have scored 10 goals and missed 15 clear chances(Now that’s an exaggeration) on the same pitch but yeah the team is capable. They are that good.

    So what’s your excuse??

May I take this chance to congratulate Amajita for making it to South Korea for the World Cup.

Cosafa has produced two (2) good teams capable of flying not only our national colours but the flag of Caf.

The four teams representing Africa are capable of causing upsets!

Wish our boys well even as àDaka & Ba Fashion make Amajita have a sleepless night….
