Simba SC confirm Moses Phiri’s departure 

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have confirmed the departure of Zambian  striker Moses Phiri from the club. 

Simba took to social media to confirm the development. Phiri joined Wekundu wa Msimbazi in June 2022 

The club has thanked the Zambian forward for his time and wished him luck in his future endeavours. 

“It was a great time to have you in our team and now we say thank you very much. All the best in your new life outside Simba SC.”- Simba Posted on their social media. 

Phiri hit the ground running for Simba before suffering an injury in December, 2022 and has failed to fully return to his previous form hence finding game time hard to come by with mostly cameo appearances off the bench. 

In his first four months at Simba, Phiri  managed 10 goals in 17 league games and was the second leading goalscorer in the league only surpassed by Fiston Mayele of Yanga who has 14 goals. 

Phiri  also managed 5 goals in the CAF Champions League helping Simba SC book a place in the group stage during the same time. 

It’s not clear yet if the former Buildcon captain will return to the MTN Super League to continue his adventure outside the country. 

Prior to his move to Simba, In 2021/2022 with Zanaco, Phiri scored 14 goals in the Zambian Premier League as the number two top scorer behind Ricky Banda who netted 16-goals.

Phiri won the 2020/21 FAZ Super Division golden boot with 17 goals helping Zanaco to qualify for Continental football.
