Chipolopolo assistant coach Moses Sichone was left disappointed with his team following their 4-2 win over Seychelles at the ongoing 2023 COSAFA Championship in Durban, South Africa.
The Copper Bullets concede late goals to end the match 4-2 after going up 4-0 and dominating the majority of the match.
Sinchone bemoaned the attitude of his players who he felt conceded silly goals against Seychelles.
“I was happy when we scored 4-0, and then after that, I don’t know what went wrong,” he said.
“We made a few changes; we thought we should bring some fresh guys who didn’t play a lot of minutes, but we could see that when you have a lot of players who don’t have experience, you will start experiencing such things.”
“I must say I am quite disappointed because of the attitude. I mean, if you score four goals, the game is done. You need to concentrate. It’s just unfortunate that each game we are conceding silly goals,” he added.
Sichone feels inexperience also played a role as he gave a number of players game time in the second half.
“We tried to give everyone a chance, and in a tournament like this, they were supposed to show the country that they are ready and want to put pressure on those guys that are playing on the main team, but it’s unfortunate.”
Goals from Albert Kangwanda, Fredrick Mulambia, Golden Mashata and Killian Kanguluma put the Copper Bullets 4-0 up at the 75th minute mark.
Seychelles however pulled two goals back, first Brandon Labrose with a fine finish before Mellie Warren could score from the penalty spot.
Zambia will now face South Africa in the semi-finals after qualifying as the best second placed side.
