Blue Arrows 0 – 2 Zesco Shockers
Zesco Shockers defeated 10 Men Blue Arrows 2 – 0 in the week 18 second round clash of the Faz Division One Zone Four encounter at Zambezi Sports Club aka Chitanki on Saturday to end their unbeaten run at home.
A goal on either side of half time from Dennis Simataa and Saviour were enough to give the Mongu rice boys a victory in regulation time to be the first team to beat Arrows at home since the start of the season.
After an intense opening exchange, Shockers were first to test goalkeeper Demo through Saviour by the 17th minute before Dennis’s shot was blocked by Mulao. Praise came close to opening the scoring for Arrows when Athur Mubila intercepted a pass from Kelvin Chileshe and squared it for the striker but the goalkeeper came to Shockers’ rescue.
Dennis Simataa finally broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute for shockers after striking a close range shot to beat Blue Arrows keeper, Demo after defenders failed to clear the danger outside their 18 yard box.
In the second half Shockers mantained the temple but both had balanced possession and they created equal opportunities. Saviour,who had squandered three chances earlier made up for the missed chances,as he combined whth Tom to double shockers’s lead in the 70th minute mark.
The Mongu Electric boys broke loose from midfield and played through Tom again outside the hosts 18 yard box for a quick counter attack before the midfielder set him up at the right side as he hit a long range shot which found the goalkeeper Demo not ready by the time he reacted it was too late.
Five minutes later, The Airmen’s troubles were worsened after midfielder Given was sent off for a second bookable offence, Picking up his second caution of the day after a bad challenge on an oppornent
Blue Arrows brought in Ronell for praise who changed the game but their midfield still coundn’t hold the pressure of Mongu rice boys as the visitors continued to create several chances.The substitute missed a huge chance in the 85th minute before to level matters before again wasting a free kick in the dying minutes of the match outside the shockers 18 yard area, 2-0 the match ended.
