Sensational Zanaco displaces Prison Leopards at the summit as Fole Malembe break into the top four…Lusaka Dynamos outclass Nkana

Forest Rangers came from a goal down to beat Red Arrows and move into the top three while Prison Leopards failed to reclaim the top spot after playing out to a goalless draw away in Solwezi to mean Sensational Zanaco remains top thanks to a superior goal difference.

The MTN/FAZ entered week 14 of action on Friday with Sensational Zanaco hosting Green Buffaloes in what was expected to be a titanic fixture on paper. The Bankers started on a bright note and were ahead barely four minutes into the match, Gideon Sichone was unfortunate to put a Baba Basile cross into his own goal, 1-0 Zanaco.

After going down the Soldiers pushed for an equalizer though it never came mainly because their tactical approach was to pump long balls into the Zanaco 18 yard area which the Bankers easily dealt with, Roger Kola doubled the Bankers lead at the death of the first half with a brilliant finish inside the area.

Enterprising Abraham Siankombo completed the 3-0 win with a close-range header in the 77th minute to send Zanaco to the summit with 24 points leapfrogging Prison Leopards who were to be in action 24 hours later.

On Saturday, Nkoloma hosted a doubleheader with the Pensioners, NAPSA Stars playing hosts to Indeni. Zambia U-20 national team forward Jimmy Mukeya put the Pensioners in the lead in the 13th minute after being put on goal by Simon Nkhata, going round the Indeni keeper before slotting home from an acute angle.

However, the NAPSA Stars defense again fumbled as they left Heritier Nkoko unmarked in the area during a corner kick and the huge Congolese striker had the easiest of jobs directing the ball into the net, 1-1. The two teams could only settle for a draw, sharing spoils. Jimmy Mukeya was voted man of the match, deservedly so.

In the second match of the day, Lusaka Dynamos hosted, Nkana at the same venue. Goals from Tady Etekiama and Lubamba Moyela sealed a 2-0 win for Lusaka Dynamos in a match they dominated and the record 13-time Champions played second best all match.

Elsewhere, Forest Rangers came from a goal down to beat Red Arrows and move up to 3rd place on the log. Joseph Phiri put the Airmen in the lead in the 65th minute but two goals within three minutes from Webster Muzaza and Lameck Silwaba gave Fole Malembe a deserved 2-1 win.

In Solwezi, Lumwana Radiants held this season’s surprise package, Prison Leopards to a goalless draw to mean Sensational Zanaco remains top of the table heading into week 15 but Forest Rangers can oust them with a win in their rescheduled game in midweek.

In Kabwe, Twiza Chaibela scored the only goal of the match as Kabwe Warriors beat Kitwe United by a lone goal.

In Kafue, Young Green Eagles shocked Nkwazi as they came from a goal down to record a 2-1 win at Khosa Stadium only their second of the season.

The action continues this afternoon as Buildcon host, Green Eagles at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15:00hrs live on Supersport.

  1. I see Rodger Kola is still playing football. After being ejected from the Chipolopolo one would think the young man was sick or something. Can someone throw light on what transpired leading to his rejection from the national team.
