The Zambia Under-20 boys recorded their first win of the pre-AFCON preparations tour as they thrashed South Sudan 3-0.
The international friendly match played in Ismailia as the team continues to prepare for the TotalEnergies U20 Egypt 2023 AFCON was the third of four they are expected to play with AFCON bound opposition.
The Young Copper Bullets suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of seven time African Champions, Nigeria before succumbing to a narrow 1-0 loss to Senegal.
Second half goals from Rickson Ng’ambi, Julius Kumwenda and Kingston Mutandwa were enough to hand Zambia a victory.
Both teams are using the practice match to fine tune ahead of the TotalEnergies AFCON U20 Egypt 2023 that kicks off on Sunday.
South Sudan are in Group B with Congo, Uganda and Central Africa Republic.
At the tournament Zambia will open its account on February 21 against Benin before facing The Gambia three days later.
The final group match is against Tunisia on February 27 at Cairo International Stadium.
Top two teams will qualify to the quarterfinals while the semi finalists at the tournament will earn the right to represent Africa at the FIFA World Cup in Indonesia.
