Schoolboy mistakes cost Nkwazi… Joshua Mutale leads Power to victory

Record 13 time Zambia Super League Champions, Nkana have moved up to third place on the log following a 2-0 win over Zambia police sponsored side, Nkwazi.

Nkana came into the match looking to extend their unbeaten run and move up the table while Nkwazi was hoping to make it two wins in a row.

Nkana with their passionate fans behind them settled quickly pressing the hosts and just ten minutes into the match, Jacob Ngulube opened the scores with a fine finish from close range.

Ngulube started the move robbing a Nkwazi defender the ball before playing some neat one touch football with Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba before beating Charles Muntanga from close range.

The Nkwazi defense continues to be in sixes and sevens as they again failed to deal with a long ball forward from the Nkana defense only for Ng’onga to sneak in a goal and double the lead, Henry Besa with the error.

The rains then took over and the match officials needed to inspect the pitch before allowing play to continue for the second half.

With the pitch mostly water logged Nkana held on to win the match 2-0 and move up to third place on the log with 29 points, four shy of log leaders, Red Arrows.

Skipper, Ng’onga who was named as man of the match .

On the Water logged pitch, Makinka said: It was very difficult for us knowing the type of football we play, We like to play a passing game. The pitch was water logged and unplayable especially in the second half hence it was very difficult for us.”

At Arthur Davies Stadium, Power Dynamos have continued their good run as they edged struggling Konkola Blades 1-0 at Arthur Davies Stadium this afternoon.

Zambia Under-20 national team midfielder Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale scored the only goal of the game in the second minute of the match.
