Salulani Phiri’s ban comes to an end … Available for ZESCO clash

Zambia Super League side Zanaco has confirmed that midfielder Salulani Phiri has returned after serving a two month ban and paying K20,000 fine.

Salulani was handed a four month (two months suspended) ban by the Disciplinary Committee for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

The committee also fined the former Polokwane City midfield workhorse a K20, 000 fine.

The club confirmed the development on their official website monitored by the ZamFoot Crew.

“Midfielder, Salulani Phiri is now eligible to play for Zanaco FC again and has been named in coach Wedson Nyirenda’s squad to face Zesco United on Saturday.

Following a two-month ban by the Football Association of Zambia Disciplinary Committee for his violent conduct against the referee and unsportsman behaviour against his opponent during the FAZ/MTN Super League week 22 match against Prison Leopards at Heroes Stadium on February 5, 2023.”

Salulani showed clear remorse for his actions by apologising to FAZ, Zanaco FC, Referees, Prison Leopards FC and the fans.

He is part of the Zanaco squad for this weekend’s Super League tie against ZESCO United as Wedson Nyirenda looks to start his second stint.

The Bankers will be aiming for maximum points as they take on Zesco United on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to end their eight match winless run.
