Former Zambia striker dies

Former Chipolopolo forward TAPSON KASEBA has passed on after a short illness.

Kaseba died on Wednesday afternoon in the University Teaching Hospital, UTH admission ward during visiting hours.

He was initially admitted to Maina Soko Medical Centre for a few days before discharge only to be admitted to UTH. 

He died surrounded by family, his mother and father plus ZNS colleagues.He is survived by a wife and six children.

The funeral home is at the mother’s in Garden House off the white wall fence turn off whereas the funeral details shall be communicated later.

KASEBA played for a number of clubs including Lime Hotspurs, Kansanshi Dynamos, Kabwe Warriors, Green Eagles, NAPSA Stars, Buildcon and Konkola Blades. 

It was at Eagles where he made his mark in 2018 when he scored 18 league goals for the Kawale Boys and came out second in the 2018 Zambian Footballer of the Year awards.

Congolese striker Idriss Mbombo who had scored 21 league goals for Zesco United won the award while Lazarous Kambole came third.

It was that form that led Aggrey Chiyangi to hand him a Chipolopolo call up and went on to score in the 2019 COSAFA Cup final against Botswana as Zambia won 1-0.
