Academy players must be sent for development in Europe not South Africa. The host clubs must give an undertaking that the exercise is meant to develop the lads and not to be sold outrightly. That will reduce the weight of expectation on the young boys and will give them the confidence to apply themselves. Players like the youngster at Lusaka Dynamos who played against Tunisia should be programmed for improvement; by now he lad should be at a super league team and be given an opportunity for further training and exposure to world class facilities coupled with modern scientific coaching. Sadly the young man’s future looks bleak!
