The Zambia U23 national team coach Beston Chambeshi has named a 25 man squad of locally based players that will go into camp to prepare for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.
Chambeshi stuck with most of his 2017 U20 Africa Cup winning team and has added Samson Banda, Edward Tembo, Leonard Mulenga and fit again Joseph Phiri to the team that saw off Malawi in the second round of the qualifiers via a 2 – 0 aggregate scoreline.
The local players will go in camp on 4th August and will have weekly training camps until the game which will be played on 4th September.
The local players will be joined by the foreign based players who include; Gamphani Lungu, Boyd Musonda, Fashion Sakala, Emmanuel Banda, Edward Chilufya, Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu who are all available for selection.
Kebson Kamanga, Paul Banda, Shemmy Mayembe, Mosese Nyondo and all the U23 foreign based (except Boyd Musonda and Edward Chilufya) were part of the senior national team that played Cameroon, Morocco and Ivory Coast before the kick-off of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The first leg will be played in Lusaka on Wednesday the 4th of September while the second leg will be played on Sunday 9th September. The winner over the two legs will qualify to the final tournament which will be hosted in Egypt.

CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE BESTON CHAMBESHI TO COACH THE SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM. THE MAN IS GOOD COMPARED TO CHIYENGI. CHAMBESHI CAN HELP THE SENIOR TEAM QUALIFY TO BOTH THE CHAN AND WORLD CUP FOR OUR VERY FIRST TIME. BESTON CHAMBESHI’S TYPE OF COACHING IS AGGRESSIVE FOOTBALL AND GOAL MINDED. WHILST ANGREY IS THAT ONE OF WE HOLD THEM THEN SCORE LATER. THAT IS THE STATEMENT HE PASSED ON WHEN THEY WON COSAFA CUP. “WE HAD TO HOLD THEM BECAUSE WE KNEW THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE BOTSWANA TEAM TO TROUBLE US” THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO. WHAT IF THEY SCORE. THIS TIME AROUND HE DRAWS WITH BOTSWANA, YOU DON’T DO THAT. PLEASE CHANGE THE COACH.
