Rejuvinated Nkwazi battle wounded Buffaloes

Green Buffaloes will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they welcome Nkwazi home away from home at Sunset Stadium in a double header.

The Zambia army sponsored outfit were handed their first defeat of the season by defending Champions, Red Arrows last weekend, 1-0 thanks to a Joseph Phiri second half strike.

Masauso Tembo’s men will be eager to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon.

Nkwazi on the other hand seem to be on the upward trajectory following their first win of the season two weeks ago when they beat Buildcon 4-0, Justin Shonga announcing his return to the MTN Super League with a brace.

Dennis Makinka’s men have collected five points in their last three games which is four more than they did in their opening four matches.

If you are a big believer in the phrase ‘history repeats itself’, Green Buffaloes are the favorites having won 11 of their last 24 meetings with Nkwazi winning only six.

JUSTIN SHONGA

Striker Justin Shonga made a return to Nkwazi after a five year stint outside the country.

The former Orlando Pirates man did not take long to announce his return with a brace against Buildcon away in Ndola.

Shonga has proven to be a goalscorer and a dead ball specialist. Green Buffaloes will need to keep a close eye on the ‘Buyer’ to make sure he does not find space to get his third goal of the season.

Buffaloes head coach Masauso Tembo expects a tough match but he is confident the preparations have been adequate ahead of the early kick off at Sunset Stadium.

“It’s a very difficult league, each and every team is competitive. It’s up to us to take each game as it comes. Pressure will always be there in football. It’s just about how we prepare and how the players will react. I feel we have prepared very well and I look forward to the Saturday game against Nkwazi,” Tembo told the ZamFoot Crew.

John Kosamu and George Ngoma have scored 67 percent of the goals scored by the Zambia army sponsored outfit so far this season and will again be key for Buffaloes.
