Red Arrows granted CAF Club Licence ahead of Confederation Cup campaign

Red Arrows have been awarded a CAF Club Licence for the 2026/27 season, clearing the MTN Super League side to compete in continental football after meeting the Confederation of African Football’s mandatory licensing requirements.

The licence, issued by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) through its First Instance Body, confirms that the Airmen satisfied CAF’s Sporting, Infrastructure, Administrative, Legal and Financial criteria. The certification authorises the club to participate in all CAF and FAZ-sanctioned competitions for which they qualify during the 2026/27 campaign, including the CAF Confederation Cup after securing qualification by winning the 2026 ABSA Cup.

Red Arrows chief executive officer Lt Col Kambani Ronald Lungu said the achievement reflected the club’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards both on and off the pitch.

“Beyond achievements on the pitch, the licence reflects the club’s continued investment in administrative excellence, regulatory compliance, player welfare and the infrastructure required to compete at the highest level,” Lungu said.

The licence also confirms the club’s compliance with CAF’s governance and operational standards, ensuring the former Zambian champions remain eligible to represent the country in continental competition through sporting merit. The CAF Club Licensing System is designed to improve professionalism across African football by requiring clubs to meet minimum standards in sporting, financial, legal, administrative and infrastructure management before taking part in elite competitions.
