Provincial D1 Lusaka: Riflemen open 16 point lead at the summit

It was a busy midweek for the Lusaka Province FAZ Division 1 as teams battled it out in week 1 rescheduled matches played in various locations across the province.

Interestingly, all matches produced at least a goal much to the excitement of the fans.

League leaders Riflemen who have been nicknamed “team one zero” due to their famous 1-0 win score lines were at it again when they beat Nampundwe with their usual scoreline.

Their victory has now opened up a 16 point difference with second place Chilanga Stars who won 2-1 against Young Napsa Stars benefiting from National Assembly’s misfortune as they lost 1-0 to Paramilitary.

The people’s favorite team, Atletico Lusaka began their journey without star boy Joseph Sabobo Banda with a 1 all away draw to Airport Warriors.

Similar results were recorded at Katwishi Ground as Misisi Youth Academy and Sable Bulls settled for a 1 point apiece.

Vectors’ woes have deepened going 6 games without a win, picking only one point as they posted a latest 1-0 home loss to Chirundu United to settle themselves on 17th position on the table.

Jackson Kampamba’s lone goal gave Shamuel a victory for the first time since week 15 was played on January 9 when they beat Young Zanaco 1-0. This time around it was a win over Lusaka City Council.

The game between Young Zanaco and Chainda Bombers has been postponed to February 9 as Sunset Stadium hosted a ZSL match between Zanaco and Forest Rangers that ended in a goalless draw.
