Prince Mumba Suffers Facial Injury But Stable

By FAZ Media

Chipolopolo midfielder Prince Mumba is facing a race against time to be fit for Zambia’s high profile international friendly against the Argentina national football team.

Mumba last evening suffered a facial injury during training in Buenos Aires after colliding with a teammate, casting doubt over his availability as Head Coach George Lwandamina finalizes his squad.

The Power Dynamos star was quickly attended to by medical staff on the pitch before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Team doctor George Magwende has since provided a detailed update, reassuring fans about the player’s condition.

“Yes, Prince sustained a blow to his head. He remained conscious and oriented throughout the episode on the pitch. He got a cut on the outer angle of his right eye during training. The bleeding was arrested while on the pitch by the medics, and he was helped off the pitch. A vehicle on hand transported him to a nearby hospital for further attention.”

“He was escorted to the hospital where he received stitches to the cut under local anaesthesia. After about three hours, with the normal medical procedures, Prince returned to the hotel and was able to have his meal in his room.” Dr Magwende told FAZ media.

Despite the scare, Magwende said Mumba is said to be in stable condition, but a late decision will be made on whether he can feature in the match.

Zambia take on the world champions in Buenos Aires on Tuesday March 31, at 2h15 (local time) which in Zambia is Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 01h15 (Zambian Time).
