The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has commenced preparations for the 2017 CAF Africa Youth Championship to be hosted by Zambia by calling the first assessment camp of eligible players.
FAZ has stated that the players called have been identified in recent talent search activities, mainly the Airtel Rising Stars and the Zone six regional tournament.

The players called should finally join and be part of the hybrid team comprising of the current U20 and U17 teams.
Importantly it would be good for the country to emerge as the eventual Champions [at the 2017 Youth Championship] and set the tone for Zambia’s quest to to qualify to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup in Cameroon.
A total of 41 players have been called for the training camp in Lusaka starting on Monday, July 27 2015.
Amongst them are notable super division players like George Mandu of Red Arrows, Fashion Sakala of Nchanga Rangers and Conlyde Luchanga of Lusaka Dynamos.
However, very few players from the team that played at the CAF U17 tournament in February this year have be called with only Jackson Kakunta, Salati Lungu, Ngosa Sunzu and Edwin Chipile making the 41 man list from the 21 players that traveled to Niger for Zambia’s maiden appearance at an U17 tournament.
