Power’s resurgence continues as they stun Zesco United

Power Dynamos came from behind to beat Zesco United 2-1 in the MTN Super League match on Sunday played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Substitute Frederick Mulambia scored a brace for Mwenya Chipepo’s side to continue their resurgent.

Power Dynamos went into the ‘Electric Derby’ on the back of three straight wins and the Kitwe giants did not disappoint.

Spencer ‘The Prince of Choma’ Sautu put the home side in front in the 4th minute with a well taken goal.

A goal down, Power Dynamos pushed for an equaliser but Kenyan goalkeeper Ian Otieno made superb saves to deny Godfrey Ngwenya and Kennedy Musonda.

After the break the Kitwe giants got their rewards.

Friedrick Mulambia came off the bench to score a brace and ended Power Dynamos’ 9 year drought against Zesco United in Ndola

Mulambia’s header beat Otieno in goal for the equaliser before sealing the win in the 71st minute to grab his brace.

This was Power Dynamos’ first win over Zesco United since 2012.

The win has seen the Kitwe giants move to 19 points on the log, a point behind fourth placed Kabwe Warriors.

Although Zesco United are on 18 points and 9th on the log, with two games in hand, the Champions have only recorded a win in their last five matches to pile pressure on coach Numba Mumanga’s future.

On Wednesday, Power Dynamos will host Kansanshi Dynamos while Zesco United will be in the capital city against Lusaka Dynamos.
