Zambia Super League side, Power Dynamos on Saturday unveiled a special kit to celebrate their golden jubilee anniversary.
Power Dynamos was established in 1971 with 2021 marking the team’s 50th year in existence. The three kits are yellow, white, and red with a bit of black featuring Abayellow’s traditional colors.
Club Chairman Bbenkele Haachitwe emphasized the importance of the golden jubilee celebration and was quick to praise the club’s founding father, Meyton Kaira.
“Good afternoon to you all and a very warm welcome to this afternoon’s event. Guest of Honour, we are here to witness yet another historic moment in the journey of Power Dynamos Football Club. The year 2021 marks exactly 50 years of the Club’s existence having been established in 1971 from its rather humble beginnings.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we must all consider it an honor and rare privilege to be witnessing this memorable occasion – marking the beginning of activities to commemorate our golden jubilee. This is by no means a small feat but a great achievement that we must all be proud of. Today we will start by unveiling the Power@50 logo and the special edition kit that the team will wear during the 2021 to 2022 season.
Power Dynamos was formed in 1971 by a Zambian visionary, Mr. Meyton Kaira, whose story you will soon learn as the celebrations continue to unfold. Mr Kaira’s vision of transforming an amateur grassroots team into a professional giant as we have come to know the Club today materialized largely due to the consistent material, financial and moral support from the Club’s parent sponsor the Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) which we have enjoyed for the last 50 years and continues to date.”

Haachitwe heaped praise on the sponsors Copperbelt Energy Corporation Plc (CEC) who have sponsored the club for 50 years.
“The financial sponsorship is presently an annual grant in the region of USD, 1.2 million.
Guest of Honour, along our 50-year journey, we have won a well-deserved spot in the ranks of our country and continent’s football. Our story is inspirational, and our journey has had highs and lows, as well as tragedies, but we remain standing and continue to forge ahead.
From the time the Club was founded in 1971 we have seen both good and bad seasons. They’ve been highlight seasons like in 1991 when Power Dynamos became the first Southern African club to win a continental trophy after winning the African Cup Winners’ Cup. In total we have 27 titles that’s inclusive of the Rothmans International Cup won in 1983.
Power Dynamos has been a major contributor to the national team. PDFC legends like Alex Chola, Wisdom Chansa, Joseph Sitali, and many others have all played for the national team and many more continue to play for the national team to date. It also includes former Power coaches who have had an opportunity to coach the national team like Ben Bamfuchile who saw success both at the club and later at the national level.
Guest of Honour, our celebrations have come during the deadly COVID-19 pandemic which has seen us adjust our program to adhere to the health guidelines. Nonetheless, as a Club, we have managed to make true part of our initial jubilee commemoration agenda with the launch of our golden jubilee commemorative logo and special edition team kit financed by our parent sponsor CEC and supplied by Umbro.
Guest of honor, distinguished guests, a lot more activities are planned to celebrate our golden jubilee, and all our stakeholders will be informed as the program unfolds.”
Power Dynamos also unveiled a special Power at 50 emblem for the 2021/2022 season. The team with wear the special jersey this afternoon for the first time when they welcome Green Eagles at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Ba Chairman you have omitted the likes of Peter Kaumba, Michael Musonda , Kenny Mwape . coach Fred Mwila, Author Davies . These made what Power is today
Arthur Davies made power what it is today. As General Manager CPC, he pulled all stops to build the club and stadia. Sitali played for which national team? You cannot mention this boy in the same breath as Bizwell, Alex, Kaumba, Musonda Michael, Wisdom, Makayi, don’t talk what you know little about! That’s why Power are not doing well its got people who have no idea who the pillars of the club were.
Lucky Msiska, Edwini Kanyanta, Blackwell Chalwe…
