MTN Super League champions Power Dynamos are determined to end their title-winning campaign on a high when they host Mufulira Wanderers in Saturday’s season finale at Arthur Davies Stadium.
Second assistant coach Songwe Chalwe said preparations have remained consistent despite the occasion, with the club focused on delivering a strong final performance before lifting the trophy in front of their home supporters.
“We’ve been preparing the same way we’ve been preparing for each and every game,” Chalwe said ahead of the encounter. “We know that this is our last game of the season and we want to finish on a high.”
The match will also serve as Power Dynamos’ coronation ceremony after they secured the 2025/26 MTN Super League title with 75 points. Chalwe reflected on a campaign in which the club retained the league crown, even though they fell short in the ABSA Cup.
“Before we started the season, we had set our targets, which was defending the title and playing and winning the ABSA Cup,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the ABSA we didn’t win, but we managed to defend our league.”
Power head into the final round in confident mood following victory over Green Eagles, and Saturday’s fixture carries added significance as it marks the first time in three seasons that the club will celebrate a league triumph on home soil.
Chalwe urged supporters to turn out in large numbers for the occasion.
“To come in numbers like they always do so that they give the team the morale support it deserves so that we celebrate with the supporters together,” he said.
“The last two seasons in which we won the league, we’ve been playing away and this will be the first time we will be playing and finishing the league at home. I believe the supporters will be happy to finish the league at home.”
Mufulira Wanderers arrive in Kitwe sitting seventh on 49 points after a goalless draw with Red Arrows.
However, recent meetings favour the champions, with Power Dynamos winning seven of the last 10 encounters. Wanderers have managed one victory during that run, while two matches ended level. Power also claimed a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 CAT at Arthur Davies Stadium, with the league trophy set to be presented after the final whistle.
