Power Dynamos go second after win over Kabwe Warriors

Kitwe giants Power Dynamos have moved to second on the log following a 2-1 win over Kabwe Warriors.

The hosts came into the match looking to make it three consecutive wins in a row and it did not take long to take the lead as Prince Mumba scored for a second consecutive game six minutes into the match.

Mumba came back to haunt his former club with a well headed effort.

Kabwe Warriors’ captain, Field Kandela, inadvertently turned a Moses Phiri pass into his own net in the 27th minute, doubling Power’s lead.

The hosts maintained their two-goal advantage heading into halftime.

Kabwe Warriors pushed for a comeback in the second half with Edward Tembo scoring from a free kick in the 86th minute to pull one back and open his goal account for the season.

However, Power’s goalkeeper Willard Mwanza made crucial saves to secure the win for Abayellow.

The victory means Power Dynamos move to second place with 16 points, four points shy of log league leaders, Zesco United, while Kabwe Warriors drop to sixth place with 13 points from nine games played so far.
