Poland: Lubambo Musonda makes history…as Śląsk Wrocław march on..

Polish based Chipolopolo wing-wizard Lubambo Musonda came-off the bench to help Śląsk Wrocław seal a comfortable 2-0 home win over Paide in a UEFA Europa Conference League 1st qualifying round second leg encounter.

Having watched the first leg from the sidelines, Musonda was introduced in the 71st minute.

In the process, he became the first Zambian footballer to feature in this inaugural UEFA inter-club competition.

The 26-year-old made the most of the opportunity and played like a man with a point to prove.

He dazzled the opposition with flashes of individual brilliance, take-ons and dangerous crosses.

Musonda will be hoping the manager took note of his contributions to warrant a place in the starting XI.

Over the two legs, Śląsk proved to be too strong for Paide having won the first leg away by 1-2 score line.

In last evening’s match, a first half finish from inside the area by Patryk Janasik (1-0) and a 66th bundled goal by Victor Garcia (2-0) were enough for Śląsk to see-off Estonian outfit, Paide.

Following the result, Śląsk qualify to the next round with a commanding 4-1 aggregate win.

Ślask will face Armenian side, Ararat Yerevan in the second qualifying round.

The UEFA Europa Conference League is the new third-tier of European club competition, below the Champions League and the Europa League.

Before the group stage, there will be three qualifying rounds and a play-off round.
