Poland 🇵🇱: Chaiwa scores in Conference League but Hibernian bow out

Chipolopolo Boys midfielder Miguel Changa Chaiwa came off the bench to score his first goal for Hibernian in the UEFA Conference League against Legia Warsaw.

The Scottish side thought they had sealed qualification to the next round but the home side pulled a goal back to make it 3-2 and 4-4 on aggregate to send the tie to extra time.

The home side went on to equalise in extra time and just three minutes from reaching the UEFA Conference League group stage only to be denied in time added on as Legia went on to win the tie in extra-time via a 5-4 aggregate.

The home side struck first when Vahan Bichakhchyan broke the deadlock early on to give Legia a two-goal cushion in the tie.

Legia appeared comfortable in the tie however, a stunning second half performance saw Hibernian turn the contest on its head as goals from Rocky Bushiri, Martin Boyle and Miguel Chaiwa had them on the verge of a famous night.

Unfortunately for Chaiwa and his teammates, the home side scrambled in an equaliser deep into additional time through Juergen Elitim to take the game into extra time. Mileta Rajovic then grabbed the winning goal in extra-time before Jan Ziółkowski was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.
