Players abroad: Mutandwa, Kayombo on target as Mafwenta shines and Mumba sees red

The extended international break has come to an end, with several Zambian footballers returning to club action across different leagues around the world.

Kingston Mutandwa scored his fourth goal of the season, Evans Kayombo continued his impressive scoring form, while Prince Mumba was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

Golden Mafwenta registered two assists in Belarus, while Gamphani Lungu saw his penalty saved by South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams during Orlando Pirates’ defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Armenia

Winger Joseph Sabobo Banda was an unused substitute for Alashkert in their 1-1 draw against Ararat Armenia.

Azerbaijan

Kenneth Kalunga played the full 90 minutes and was involved in the build-up to Kapaz PFK’s second goal as they secured a 2-0 victory over Araz in Round Seven of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

The 2017 U20 Africa Cup of Nations winner continues to enjoy regular playing time, with Kapaz sitting sixth on the league table with 10 points.

Belarus

Midfielder Golden Mafwenta provided two assists as Naftan Novopolotsk registered an emphatic 4-1 victory over Belshina Bobruisk in the Belarusian top flight.

Operating on the right wing, Mafwenta delivered a clever cross into the penalty area in the 58th minute, which his teammate headed home at the near post.

He completed his double assist contribution during a counterattack in stoppage time, unselfishly setting up a teammate to score.

Mafwenta has now contributed to five goals in 15 appearances this season, scoring once and providing four assists.

Czech Republic

Defender Mathews Banda was an unused substitute as Bohemians Praha recorded a 1-0 victory over Ostrava.

Former Power Dynamos captain Benson Sakala remains sidelined through injury.

Estonia

Defender Ricky Chanda was an unused substitute for Nõmme United, who suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat away to Tammeka.

Finland

Left-back Samson Ngulube played 64 minutes for Mariehamn FC in their 1-1 draw against Lives.

Georgia

Bonapheseo scored the opening goal as Locomotive Tbilisi cruised to a 3-0 victory over Didube in a Liga 3 encounter.

The former Kafue Celtic player has now scored four goals this season.

Germany

Lubambo Musonda remains on the road to recovery and missed Magdeburg’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Hannover 96.

Meanwhile, Patson Daka also missed action after Hamburger SV secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Hoffenheim. The Chipolopolo striker continues to recover from a thigh injury.

Iraq

Former Kabwe Warriors midfielder Prince Mumba was sent off in the 74th minute as Al Gharraf played out a goalless draw against Al Jolan in the Iraqi Stars League.

Mumba received his second yellow card for a high boot during an aerial challenge, leaving his side to finish the match with 9 men, he was the second Gharraf player sent off in the match. 

Mozambique

Former NAPSA Stars striker Evans Kayombo continued his impressive scoring form, finding the net as Costa do Sol secured a 2-0 victory over Clube Ferroviário de Lichinga in the 2026 Moçambola.

Kayombo has now scored eight goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for Costa do Sol since joining the club from NAPSA Stars in July.

Portugal

Chipolopolo winger Chipyoka Songa was an unused substitute for Moreirense FC in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Gil Vicente.

South Africa

Gamphani Lungu endured a frustrating outing as Orlando Pirates suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Zambian forward had his penalty saved by Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, while Iqraam Rayners and Teboho Mokoena scored the goals that secured victory for Masandawana.

Scotland

Midfielder Miguel Chaiwa played 77 minutes for Hibernian FC in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Dundee United.

Sweden

James Nene Sibeene came on as a second-half substitute for IFK Stocksund, who suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sollentuna.

Switzerland

Striker Kingston Mutandwa scored from the penalty spot to help Servette FC secure a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sion.

The Zambian international has now scored in four consecutive matches, taking his season tally to four goals.

Tanzania

Clatous Chota Chama and Simba SC claimed a 2-1 victory over Albert Kangwanda’s Young Africans in the prestigious Kariakoo Derby.

The result marked Simba’s first victory over their arch-rivals in 11 meetings, making it a particularly significant triumph for the club.

Zimbabwe

Zambian coach Kelvin Kaindu continued his impressive run with Hardrock FC, guiding the side to a 2-0 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs.

Hardrock have now won nine consecutive matches, underlining their excellent form.
