Players abroad: Augustine Mulenga in 5 star performance…European-based Pros and more..

It has been a mixed weekend for present and former Copper Bullets playing abroad.

The ZamFoot Crew takes a look at how the players abroad played for their respective clubs.

South Africa

Justin Shonga marked his debut for Sekhukhune United with a goal in their 4-0 win over Baroka.

Rodrick Kabwe also made his debut for Sekhukhune United as a left while Toaster Nsabata kept a cleen sheet.

Augustine Mulenga chipped in with the all-important assist as Amazulu edged out visiting side Horoya AC by a lone goal in a CAF champions League encounter.

The Zambian winger threaded in a low cross from the right to Mamela who made no mistake from close range after a well worked team move. The magnificent winger could have had another assist had Mamela not headed wide with the goal at his mercy.

Elsewhere on the continent, 2012 AFCON winning goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene was an unused substitute in Mamelodi Sundown’s goalless draw away to Sudanese outfit Al Merrikh in a CAF Champions’ League Group stage encounter.

In Niger, Clatous Chota Chama is not in action for the Simba side taking on USGN, a side from Niger in the CAF Confederation Cup [at press time].

As per CAF rules, during the same year a player is in principle only eligible to play for one and the same club in the CAF inter-club competitions.

Having featured twice earlier on in the CAF Confederation with Moroccan side RS Berkane, Chama is ineligible to represent Simba.

Rally Bwalya was not included in match-day squad.

Fashion Sakala was a second half substitute half in Glasgow Rangers’ away one-all draw at Dundee United. Overall, the Zambian forward played very well. He could have had an assist in the 68th minute when he played a cross into the box for Morelos, who saw his effort come off the keeper from very close range.


Lubambo Musonda featured in AC Horsens’ last training match in which they lost 1-0 to visiting FC Fredericia. Musonda and team are gearing up for the restart of the Danish second tier league competition which resumes next weekend.

Elsewhere in Denmark, Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya continues to be left out of the matchday squad following his permanent winter transfer to Danish Superliga side Midtjylland.

Having not been selected for the mid-week Conference League squad, the enterprising forward was left out of 18-man squad for the league restart’s two-nill home loss to Ålborg. New acquisitions Love, Meyer and Døhr Thychosen, on the other hand, were selected. The trio were also part of the Conference League squad.


Zambian forward Lameck Banda played a full ninety minutes in Maccabi Petah Tikva’s goalless stalemate at home to Maccabi Netanja. Although not on the scoresheet in this encounter, the player on-loan from Arsenal Tula has been on foam lately finding the back of net on six occasions and mastering a single assist during the campaign.


Former Zambian international Jacob Mulenga was an used substitute as Go Ahead Eagles blew away a two-nil lead to draw 2-2 away to Twente in an Eredivisie encounter.

Czech Republic

Former Power Dynamos defensive midfielder Benson Sakala and his FK Viktoria Zizkov teammates are preparing for resumption of the Fortuna Narodni liga, Czech Republic’s Second Tier league competition.

Ngosa Sunzu is also preparing with his team  FK club Teplice 

The league resumes in two weeks.


Arsenal Tula continued their preparation for the league restart with a comfortable 2 – 0 win over Orenburg.

Evans Kangwa and Klings Kangwa are both on the books of Arsenal Tula. The Russian Premier League will resume next weekend.


Enock Mwepu continues to recover from an injury absence and missed Brigton and Hove Albion’s three nill loss at home to Burnely in the English Premier League.

Also England, Patson Daka is action [at press time] for the Leicester City side visiting Wolves today in an English Premier League encounter.


Emmanuel Banda’s Djurgårdens IF will welcome Brage to the Tele2Arena on Monday evening in a domestic cup encounter.
