An Augustine Mulenga brace helped Zambia to victory over the West Africans in Group B match of the CHAN 2018.
The ZamFoot Crew takes a look at how each player rated in Thursday night’s win at Grande Stade de Marrakech.
Toaster Nsabata – 7/10 – The former ZamCoal and Nchanga Rangers was calm and reassuring between the goal posts. He dealt with the cross in the box superbly.
He was involved in the second goal after he spotted Ernest Mbewe’s run on the break.
Simon Silwimba – 6.5 – The diminutive full back had a fair game. He earned himself a yellow card after clumsy challenge. Will be rested on Monday as he is card away from suspension.
Ziyo Tembo – 8/10 – Captain and leader. He was rock solid at the back. He cleared every ball whether on the ground or in the air. Showed that he a ball playing centre back too.
Adrian Chama -7/10 -Typical in a soldier style as he went about his job quietly. Covered there left back well.
Fackson Kapumbu – 6/10 – There was incidence in the first half that he failed to spot the danger and couldn’t track back.
Did well to join attacks but was let down with his final ball.

Ernest ‘Altezza’ Mbewe – 8.5 – The speedy winger was a marvel to watch with his direct runs. Assisted Zambia’s second goal. He has now 2 assists in as many games.
Donashamo Malama – 8 – Simply Mr Versatile!! He was the more deeper midfielder as opposed to the advanced role he played in the first half against Uganda.
Kept it simple but effective.

Kondwani Mtonga -7/10 – The veteran thrived in the advanced role. As usual elagant, composed and was economical with the ball.
Augustine Mulenga -10/10 – Marked his 17th Cap with a brace. Both goals were of pure quality.
Didn’t misplace any passes. Tracked back to help with defence. Completed dribbles and put in crosses.
Was denied an assist Mbewe’s header came off the cross bar.
Three goals in 2 matches!
Lazarous Kambole – 8/10 – He was terrific especially in the first half. Assisted for Zambia’s opener. Two assists and a goal in his second international cap isn’t bad.
Friday Samu -7.5 – Making his full debut, the 23 year old gave it his all. Played his part in the opener after backheal found Kambole.

SUBSTUTIONS:
Mike Katiba – 6/10 – Came on for Samu in the 56th minute, and played as false no.9.
Jack Chirwa – N/A – Replaced Kambole late in the game and become an extra man in midfield to see off the game.
Technical Bench
Wedson Nyirenda -9/10 – Again the gaffer was spot on with his tactics.
The game plan off playing on the counter was spot.
These ratings are overzealous
I equally think so…at one point Kambole had Mbewe to his right with the goalkeeper and three defenders beaten but decided to go for glory and wasted a golden opportunity to make it 2-0…his rating should be a six!
Wow great rating though could have loved Auga be rated 9.5/10. Seriously, so far have not watched him play at his best to get 10/10 rating. Well don boys we are proud of you and am glad my friends in the hood have started liking the Cu Jersey simply because you are performing well otherwise I would have been in limbo over the new kit.
Mtonga for me he was quite would give him 6/10, Kapumpu 6.5/10 for shooting any how without considering his colleagues
The Referee – 4/10. He should have sent off the Ivorian for that challenge on Augustine.
For Augustine, that was the game that opened doors for him into Europe, unless he just messes up himself.
Augustine is not at his best.
Our goalkeeper was never challenged and looks like he lacks command and confidence at times. Am not one to sour a moment that should be joyous but truth is there still a lot areas we need to solidify in order to lift the trophy. I would recommend that our technical team at our goalkeeper, fullbacks, we seem to get beaten to easily. Attacking midfield position lacks real creativity through the middle and our #9/central striker needs to be strong enough to hold up the ball and play it into open areas or through the gaps for wingers and wingbacks to run through and cross
Anita you are absolutely right, Augustine is not at his best and he is yet to show the best of him. 5 out of 10 for Kapumbu, missed placed paces, failing to track most times and being bailed out by Adrian and Ziyo, Alteza was briliant but all in all, credit goes to the technical bench and all the players for a job well done, all the best in the next game.
These ratings are flawed. How do you score a player 10/10? Even Messi who can run with the ball from his defence and dribble about 6 players before chipping in a goal does not score 10/10 in ratings.
I will not trust future ratings from this site.
5 out of 10 for kapumbu,he was the weakest link and very porous, at one point he was outpaced only to pull the opponent in the 18 area save for the favour from the ref who denied Ivory cost a clear penalty. Kapumbu is a big suspect for me except we don’t have a replacement. Friday Samu 4 out of 10, he shorts like kapumbu. Even in the last game, against Uganda, there was at one time a perfect buildup which overzealously dashed and ballooned,
Your ratings are poor, ziyo and adrian whereoutstanding in defense. Kapumbu and silwimba were poor rating of 5 for nboth will do. Ziyo and Adrian 9 is my rating for both.
Samu, should be replaced by phiri or mushili
k m i agree friday samu be replaced by phiri or mushili
