Centre-back Paul Mupila has joined MathKat United FC and made his debut in the 2026 ZPL Men’s National Division Transitional League as the Mansa-based club returned to national league action.
Mupila, who previously featured for More Young Family Soccer Academy, has taken the next step in his football career by joining MathKat United ahead of the new campaign.
The defender made his first appearance in the club’s opening transitional league fixture against Lumwana Radiants, with the two sides playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw to share the points.
The move marks a new chapter for Mupila as he looks to establish himself at national division level and continue developing his game.
Based in Mansa District, Luapula Province, MathKat United are back in the national league after a 10-year absence, making their return to the competition a significant milestone for the club.
Reflecting on the move, Mupila referenced Zechariah 4:10, a Bible verse that encourages believers not to despise small beginnings, emphasising the importance of appreciating the early stages of a journey.
The message reflects his outlook as he begins a new chapter with MathKat United and seeks to make his mark at a higher level of competition.
Mupila also expressed gratitude to his former club and its technical staff for helping facilitate a smooth transition to his new team.
With his debut already behind him, the defender will now look to build on the opportunity as MathKat United seek to make a positive impression during their return to the national league.
