Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka scored the equalizer in Leicester City’s surprise 1-2 home loss to relegation threatened Everton in the English Premiership.
Following the Europa Conference League exit on Thursday to Roma, Brendan Rodgers made six-changes to starting XI with Amartey, Castagne, Mendy, Perez, Daka and Iheanacho all coming-in.
Having not registered a goal in his last twelve Premier League appearances, Daka played like a man on a mission.
What was particularly evident was Daka’s link up play with Nigerian international Iheanacho.
In the second minute, the two combined well when Iheanacho pounced on a loose pass before threading it through to Daka on the edge of the box. Daka then hit a low shot past on rushing Pickford only to see the goal bound effort cleared away by Mina.
Everton then opened the scores with the next piece of action courtesy of Ukrainian Mykolenko’s beautiful volley on the edge of the box off an exquisite Lwobi cross.
Following some end-to-end action, Daka scored the equalizer.
Benefiting from a mix up between Everton centre-backs Mina and Coleman, Daka kept his composure to finish past Pickford in goal to make it 1-1.
Despite the dominance, Leicester City would find themselves trailing at halftime when Holgate reacted quickest from an initial Schmeichel save to nod in a second in the 30th minute.
Into the Second half, the game swung into the Foxes favor, with Barnes coming very close to scoring the equalizer but for Pickford’s heroics.
First, in the 68th minute, Barnes was set up by Daka’s header inside the penalty area before seeing his volley produce a great save from Pickford.
Three minutes later, the English international goalkeeper produced another great save to deny Barnes.
After a very good shift, Patson Daka was rested in 80th minute for Ademola Lookman.
In the end, Everton held on for a very important win in their quest for relegation survival.
