Zambia U20 international striker Patson Daka will on Monday afternoon play in the UEFA Youth League final for his club Salzburg of Austria against Benefica of Portugal.
Daka scored the winner when his team came from behind to beat the much fancied Barcelona Youth team after coming on a substitute.
Making only his debut appearance in the tournament, the former Kafue Celtic player was introduced in the 59th minute with his team trailing by a goal.
He was active when they scored they equalizer in the 63rd minute with his typical pressing from the top and he could have sent them ahead in the 70th minute when he slid in to make contact with cross but he saw his shot go agonizingly wide.
He made no mistake in the 84th minute when he freed himself from his marker to tap home for the winner.
He said after the match:
It’s an incredible feeling. I would like to thank the coaching team for the confidence they had in me that allowed me to be a part of this. I was determined to repay them. I think I managed that. We played really well today, dominated one of the best teams and we deservedly won. Our team is really one of a kind
In today’s game, Salzburg face Benefica who beat Real Madrid 4 – 2 in the other semi final.
Should Salzburg win, this will be Daka’s third gold medal in five months after winning the regional Cosafa Cup tournament in December, before winning the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in March.
The game will be played at the Centre sportif de Colovray kicking off at 1700hrs.
Supersport will televise the game live.

Keep the fire burning Zambian version of the great Eto.
Uyu umwaiche (once labelled ipulanga)is destined for great heights.
Keep it up Patson and my God bless you abundantly.
On 24th April Ba ZAMFOOT you reported that Patson, Sunzu enjoying game time as Chisamba provides assist in Ural win, here you stated that Patson’s club was Leifberg or something like that. in the above, you mention that he plays for Salzburg of Austria.
So please kindly clarify which team Patson plays for.
This is the story as reported on 24th Aril.
“Zambia Under twenty national team striker Patson Daka this weekend played for his Austrian club Liefering but could do little to help as he and his team went down 5 – 0.
This was Daka’s second match in the second tier league and he lasted 56 minutes in the game”
Technically Red Bull Salzburg own Patson Daka. Liefering F.C. is a feeder club for Salzburg. The two clubs has the same owner, so they swap player in that line. For example, all the players that played in the UEFA youth semi final game against Barcelona are Liefering F.C. players but contracted with Salzburg. They play league games week in week out in Liga 1 as Liefering F. C. In other words Liefering is Red Bull Salzburg’s under 21 team.
Well elaborated!
