Patson Daka hoping for an even better contribution at Leicester City

Patson Daka knows that Leicester City must earn the right to maintain their position at the top of the Sky Bet Championship in the coming weeks.

– Leicester City are in Sky Bet Championship action at Watford this Saturday (3pm GMT kick-off)
– Coverage of the fixture will be available live on Foxes Hub for those with a valid Game Pass
– Foxes forward Patson Daka previewed the upcoming encounter against the Hornets earlier this week
– Carrying the correct mindset into the game will be the key to a positive result, says the Zambian

– Daka has scored six goals and assisted three in nine appearances so far this season

A busy week of action begins at Vicarage Road on Saturday when the Foxes visit play-off chasing Watford, before welcoming Sheffield Wednesday to King Power Stadium three days later.

Firstly, reflecting on the 5-0 success at Stoke City last weekend, the forward was pleased to play his part in such an emphatic victory, netting twice at bet365 Stadium to increase his seasonal tally to nine league goals heading into a critical phase of the campaign.

“It was amazing,” the Zambia international commented on the Foxes’ win in the Potteries. “It’s not easy to play away at Stoke but I think we really did well as a team. Getting a goal early in the game really helped us.

“It was a great win and hopefully we can get even bigger wins now. I think it gives you more confidence. For me as a striker, by scoring goals you get that feeling of support even more from your team-mates. Everyone believes in you. Everyone trusts that when they give you the ball, you will convert it.

“Every time you are going into the next game, you are just thinking about scoring. Every opportunity that you have, you want it to fall to your feet because you have that confidence to get it done.

“So far, it’s been great. I’m just hoping for an even better contribution. I would say it’s been really good.”

Having back-to-back games, you can stretch the gap, or you can narrow it. We all know what we want to do and that’s the focus right now.

While Leicester sit 11 points clear at the league’s summit, with three successive wins bringing 11 goals and just one conceded, Saturday’s opponents are not to be underestimated, with Daka outlining how the attitude and approach must be right from the off.

“Away games are always tough,” the 25-year-old warned. “Our focus has already shifted from last weekend’s game. We’re now focusing on this and we know that it’s a different team so we have to go in with a different mentality. We have to be ready for a difficult game.

“It’s going to be a fight and we have to do everything that we can do to win that fight. Obviously, we need maximum points. It’s very crucial now that we get as many points as we can in this period in the second half of the season.

“When you drop points during this time, it hits you hard. You need to make sure that you take your chances and get as many points as you can. Having back-to-back games, you can stretch the gap, or you can narrow it. We all know what we want to do and that’s the focus right now.”
