Patson Daka could start against Everton as Iheanacho suffers injury

Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka could make his third start in seven games when Leicester City welcome Everton to the King Power Stadium.

Daka started on the wing for the Foxes against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a match they won 2-1 but came off the bench to play the last 21 minutes against Leeds United.

However Dean Smith could be forced to start Daka with Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho expected ‘to be out for some weeks’.

“He’s got a tear in his adductor muscle. He’s out for a number of weeks. I’m not going to rule him out for the rest of the season, but it’s going to be tough to get him back. Hopefully we can,” Smith told a press conference earlier today.

“It’s a blow. He came on at half-time against Man City and did ever so well. He played really well in the Wolves game as well. He scored the penalty and created chances.”

“His all-round displays have been really good, so it’ll be a loss, but it’s an opportunity for others,” he added.

Iheanacho’s injury could provide a chance for the Zambian international to step up in the Foxes fight to survive relegation.

Daka Daka has been involved in seven goals so far this season for the Foxes.

Leicester City welcome Everton to King Power Stadium on Monday at 21:00 hrs Central African Time.
