Pataaki Girls this afternoon were held to a 2-2 draw by Football Chance Foundation Girls in 2021/22 FAZ Women’s League Lusaka Province Rescheduled Match Week 23 played at Barca Sports Complex Ground.
Pataaki went into this game with nothing other than a victory in their mind so as to narrow the gap to 3 points with log leaders ZANACO Ladies who have 72 points while Football Chance knew that this was their chance to also maintain their unbeaten run and catch up with their 4 games in hand and move up on the table from fourth position with 53 points.
It was a sluggish start in the first half for Pataaki as Football Chance was in control of the game and their hard work paid off as Beatrice Njobvu pounced on a loose ball in the box lobbying Peggy Tembo in goal for Pataaki to send the Coach Alfred ‘Never Say Die’ Shaba drilled lasses in a 1-nil lead just before the half-hour mark much to the excitement of ZANACO Ladies players who were in the stands at Barca Complex rallying behind Football Chance.
However, Ruth Mwanza equalized for Pataaki just at the stroke of half time as she slotted home the ball in an empty net after being well set up by Blessings Zulu who benefited from a cross from Inonge Muyamwa to level the scores to 1-1 going at the break.
After resumption, Pataaki cameback more organized and they pressed Football Chance in most part of the half in their own area and Blessings Zangose Zulu was at hand to send the coach Patrick Luwe Phiri tutored lasses in a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute after she calmly beat Harriet Simunene who committed herself out of the goal area and ended up colliding with her teammate.
Just when, everyone thought it would be maximum points for Pataaki, Football Chance midfielder Bertha Kashinga utilized on the defensive lapse as she beat the offside trap before a fine finish in the box making it 2-2 in the 75th minute and that was enough as spoils were shared in a thrilling encounter.
Pataaki’s next assignment this weekend is a home fixture against Victorious United Queens while Football Chance Foundation Girls will host Mapani at Natural Resources Development College (NRDC) Ground.
