Oswald Mutapa appointed Red Arrows Technical director

Zambia Super League side, Red Arrows has appointed former Lumwana Radiants and National Assembly boss Oswald Mutapa as technical director.

The club took to Facebook to confirm the appointment of the former Chipolopolo Boys assistant coach. Former Technical Director Charles Kafula was recalled and redeployed at Air Force Training Department

“Red Arrows Football Club has roped in seasoned Coach Oswald ‘Mourinho’ Mutapa as Technical Director. Mutapa who is contracted with the Football Association Zambia (FAZ) has been engaged on a part-time basis.

This move comes after former Technical Director Charles Kafula was recalled and redeployed at Air Force Training Department as well as the recent resignation of Songwe Chalwe who decided to pursue further challenges.”

Airmen boss Chisi Mbewe has described the appointment of Osward Mutapa as an excellent move adding that the two coaches share the same ball-playing and passing football philosophy.

He further mentioned that the experience of Mutapa will add value to the Technical Bench as the Airmen return to the continental stage.

In 2019 Mutapa won 2 COSAFA titles in a year making him the first coach ever to do so in the history of COSAFA tournaments.

Mutapa led the Zambia Under-17 at the Cosafa U17 Championship to victory in Malawi to win his first trophy in 2019 and then guided the Under 20 to the Cosafa U17 Championship on home soil to claim his regional double.

While the Copper Bullets headed to North Africa for friendly games, Mutapa temporarily took charge of the friendly match against Namibia with a locally assembled side that beat the brave Warriors in Windhoek to claim the 2019, Dr. Geingob Cup. That’s a treble for Junior.
