Opposition Watch: Niger stun Tanzania in Dar

Niger beat Tanzania to rekindle their hopes of qualifying to next’s FIFA World Cup.

The West Africans recorded a 1-0 away victory over the Taifa Stars to leave the battle for second place in Group E wide open.

Niger have dislodged Zambia in third position.

The Chipolopolo Boys failed to break down Morocco on Monday and lost 2-0 despite dominating the campaign.

It’s been a tough campaign for Zambia after just recoding one victory in the last five outings.

Zambia will travel to Tanzania and host Niger in Ndola during the October international window

Morocco are top of the group on 21 points while second placed Tanzania are on 10 points.

Niger and Zambia are on 9 and 6 points respectively with Congo Brazzaville on a point

  1. Interesting result, with this in the mix, Zambia is back in contention if they win there last two matches against the 2nd and 3rd placed teams, respectively. Against TZ by any score and a 2+ goals against Niger will do since their is a likelihood of Z and N having the same points if Niger pulls another TZ wonder against the next opponent.

    Let’s wait and see but the ball is back in Zambia’s hands to test the playoffs and cause same surprises….

  2. The Zambian ancestor in the name of Grant doesn’t seem to be so sure of why he was employed to be our coach. It is everyone’s dreams that we have a formidable team competing favourably with any other team. Herve Renard did it unconvincingly. How do you say the boys did well with a two nil loss? Open your eyes FAZ.
