Opposition Watch: Namibia completes double over Mozambique to go top of Group k

Namibia made it six points from six after a 1-0 win over Mozambique in Windhoek in a Cameroon 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday night.

The win sends Namibia to top of the log following their late 3-2 win over the Black Mambas on Saturday.

Ricardo Manetti’s side have gone top of Group K on 7 points, level with Guinea Bissau while Mozambique and Zambia are tied on 4 points.

Namibia will host Guinea Bissau next month in a top of the table clash and will be looking to revenge their 1-0 loss to the West Africans on match day 1.

A win for either side will seal qualification while a defeat or draw for either side might send qualification to the wire should either Zambia or Mozambique win in Maputo.

In an event that both matches on match day 5 will end in stalemate, then a draw for both Guinea Bissau and Namibia next year in March will be enough to send them through.

As for Zambia, four points from the last two matches could send the Chipolopolo through depending on the outcome between Namibia and Guinea Bissau.

Should the 2012 African Champions collect maximum points then they return to Africa’s biggest showpiece after missing the 2015 edition.
