The first round of the 2025/26 MTN Super League concludes this weekend with a finely balanced Week 17 showdown as Nkana FC host an in-form Kansanshi Dynamos at Nkana Stadium.
Separated by just one point on the table, both sides arrive chasing momentum and breathing space away from the relegation zone. Kansanshi Dynamos sit 13th on 17 points, with record 13-time champions Nkana just behind on 16 — a reflection of how tight the margins remain.
Form suggests a different story. Nkana are unbeaten in their last six league matches, while the Mabanga Boys head to Kitwe on the back of consecutive victories, setting the stage for a tense, evenly matched contest.
Kick-off is at 15h00, with tickets available nationwide via CompuTicket at Shoprite outlets — K30 (Open Wing), K150 (VIP) and K300 (VVIP).
Kansanshi Dynamos will be guided from the touchline by assistant coach Dennis Makinka, who steps in for head coach Mohamed Fathi while he attends his CAF Pro Licence course. Makinka says the team is fully prepared for the challenge.
“The boys are looking good,” Makinka said. “We worked on our weaknesses from the last game and improved on what we did well, especially compactness and ball retention. The team is ready.”
Despite acknowledging Nkana’s pedigree and home support, Makinka insists his side will play without fear.
“Nkana is a legendary club, but before kick-off it’s 0–0,” he added. “They’ve won two games in a row and so have we. Anyone can win.”
History points to another tight encounter, with recent meetings frequently ending in draws or narrow wins. With pressure rising and the first round coming to a close, Saturday’s match offers both teams a chance to turn form into belief heading into the second half of the season.
