Zambian striker Obbie Chola Chirwa scored a brace to help his Tanzanian club Azam FC to a 3-0 win over Mwandui FC in a Tanzania Vodacom League encounter on Thursday afternoon.
Chirwa opened the scores in the 28th minute after pouncing on a loose ball in the box before slotting home with ease. Zimbabwean in form forward Prince Dube doubled the lead in the 61st minute with a nice lob over the keeper.
Chirwa made it 3-0 four minutes later as he forced an error from a defender before slotting to complete a well-deserved win for the Ice Cream Makers.
The win takes Azam to the summit of the log with 18 points after six games while Simba is second with 13 points having played a game less.
The former Yanga SC forward was initially summoned for the just-ended October FIFA window but was later dropped together with Clatous Chota Chama after they could not make it in time due to travel challenges under the new normal brought about by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Chirwa came out and apologized to Micho and FAZ for the failure to make it for international duty.
