Zambia national team head coach Wedson Nyirenda would like to see the return of the national team vs the rest game but this time in form of a four team tournament as he plans to make four national teams so that he has a huge poor of players.
Nyirenda revealed that they will hold three more camps before naming a final team for the 2018 COSAFA tournament.
” We have about three more camps prior to the main tournament. We are calling new players because we want to give chance to main players. In Future FAZ Should be organising games between national teams. Previously we had team A vs team B back then but it was the same team but with four teams we can have a tournament of national teams starting from the semi-final stage. Having four national teams is my vision that i had,” Nyirenda said after overseeing Chipolopolo’s morning training session at Edwin Imboela stadium.
The former Green Buffaloes, Zesco United and Zanaco trainer is not worried about the fans who feel Chipolopolo is inconsistent as he believes in picking lessons from losses.
” Losing is part of football. Losing is not pleasant, A draw will have the nation divided with some people saying we survived and others feeling we deserved to win. A win on the other hand shuts up everyone no matter how badly you played,” He said
“We went to CHAN and lost to a team we thought was weaker than Ivory coast and Uganda that we had beaten but thats how football is. Sometimes you just have to pick lessons from there and build from it but if you don’t learn from such then you are doomed,” He added.
The Chipolopolo boss yesterday missed the teams training as he was in a meeting with the minister of sports which he described as fruitful but did no share details.
” It was a wonderful and fruitful meeting. It was internal so i can’t go into details of what was discussed. Will only talk about it when the superiors start talking about it,” He said.
On whether he plans to dump Chipolopolo for greener pastures, Nyirenda declined giving a comment. Zambia had a full training session at Edwin Imboela stadium without four Zanaco players and Isaac Shamujompa.
Mwila Phiri sat out with an injury , Solomon Sakala was just subjected to light training as he is yet to fully recover while Chaila Misheck left the training session towards the end with some discomfort.
