Super League side ZANACO are set to announce their reunion with club legend, Numba Mumamba who is set to be named new head coach.
Numba is set to take over from Wedson Nyirenda who recently left his role as head coach of the Bankers.
The former Chipolopolo winger is believed to have dumped his current club Kabwe Warriors who he joined in 2022 in favour of a return to Sunset Stadium five years after his departure.
Numba had a stint with ZESCO United before joining Kabwe Warriors and guided the club to a ninth league title in his first season.
However it’s at Zanaco where Magic is a true club legend as he played an instrumental role as a player in ZANACO’s first four league titles between 2002 and 2006 while the 2009 title found him as an assistant coach.
Numba, who joined Zanaco from Konkola Blades in 1999,led them to their seventh and last title to date in 2016.
He steered Zanaco to their debut Barclay’s Cup (ABSA Cup ) win in 2017 but it was again under his watch in the 2019/2020 season that they failed to qualify for the competition for the first time ever.
But his achievements with the club goes beyond silverware and was the first Zanaco coach to guide them to the group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2017 and second in the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2019/2020 season.
