We are not out, says Zesco United coach

Zesco United coach Tenant Chembo has come out fighting after his side lost 1-0 to Ivorian side Asec Mimosas  at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

‘We are still in the game, we are not out’ .
The performance of the team was very well,  unfortunately, we didn’t score.

The interim coach has urged his players to believe as the side from Abidjan is beatable.

” Asec Mimosas , is a beatable team and we shall come back in the return game .

“The team accounted itself very well, despite conceding a goal in the first half of the game. The team played for a positive result, but every game has its own set backs. We will go to Ivory Coast with the right altitude.

A Solomon Sakala  own goal earned the Ivorian side a slender victory over the Zambian Champions.

The next game will be played in Ivory Coast on 17 march, 2018.

  1. It’s rather difficult for Zambian teams to reverse the first leg in the next leg our teams all envoys lost in unbelievable manner

  2. FAZ league kickoff date should be changed after all representatives lose

This should be a workup call for FAZ to have the Zambian football season kickoff moved to primo February instead of March as at now or even late January

ASEC of Ivory Coast the team that beat Zesco had been playing league games as far back as December last year, meaning they were in better form. The same applies to the Algerian team. I suppose it is the same for Zanaco´s case. Rain should not be an excuse at all. League games in countries that experience snow are played so should the games be played whether rainning or not. The late start to the season can be part of the problem.

    My opinion

  3. The continental representatives shud start early. My suggestion is that the 4 teams in the Charity shield play the leagues fixtures among themselves; that gives them 3 competitive games each! There after the teams should contest the semifinals and final of the Charity shield! This adds up to 5 competitive games each before engaging in continental soccer.See what I mean?! Ideally the games should take place between mid January and early February. Easy
    Any brilliant ideas guys!!

  4. Out ba coach the level is too much for you I’m sure chicken z smiling , with all the resources at your disposal you fail to win at home against a team like that..the league z not to blame zesco and zanaco underrated there opponents it will be difficult in West Africa on that artificial turf… It’s over for Zambian teams till next time chao

    • Very ignorant comment. Are you not aware that your Lwandamina was also humbled by a ka small team from Botswana by the name of Township Rollers. Google the history of Asec Mimosas. FYI, this club has produced the Bonaventure Kalou, Didier Zokora, Emmanuel Eboué, Gervinho, Salomon Kalou, Romaric, Boubacar Barry, Didier Ya Konan, Kolo Touré and Yaya Touré.
There is no disgrace in losing to a team of that calibre.
      Tapita!

  5. Zambian coaches are very myopic indeed how can they sign gabbage from d r c, zimbabwe , ghana, uganda and kenya.. And they want to compete in champions league..
