Nkwazi FC have unveiled a new playing kit and team bus as the Zambia Police-sponsored side prepares for the 2026 Zambia Premier League Transition League.
The unveiling took place at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka at a ceremony attended by Zambia Police Inspector General Graphel Musamba, Deputy Inspector General of Police Administration Charity Munganga, senior police officials, sponsors, club officials, players and technical staff.
The new kit and bus are part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming season and are expected to provide a boost as Nkwazi enter a new chapter under the transition league format.
Zambia Police Director of Sports Teddy Shimishi said the club requires significant financial resources to operate at Premier League level and highlighted the need for innovative fundraising initiatives to complement traditional sources of funding.
Shimishi revealed that the Sports Office is targeting the sale of 10,000 Nkwazi FC replica jerseys, with proceeds contributing towards its fundraising efforts. A further 5,000 police tracksuits are also expected to supplement the initiative.
He said the fundraising drive would also contribute towards efforts to improve facilities at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
Inspector General Musamba acknowledged the increasing financial demands of modern sport and called for continued support from sponsors and other partners.
He also commended the organisations supporting Nkwazi FC, Nkwazi Queens and Nkwazi Rugby Club, describing the partnerships as important to sustaining the sporting programmes.
“We need to sustain these relationships between the Zambia Police Service and our partners through strong and mutually beneficial partnerships,” Musamba said.
Nkwazi players recognised
Three Nkwazi players were also recognised for their performances during the 2025/26 Zambia Premier League season.
Crowford Mwaba received the Most Disciplined Player Award, while Mathews Mashimikilo was named Most Consistent Player.
Billy Balanganai Ntumba was recognised as the club’s Top Scorer for the campaign.
Goalkeeper Bradley Mweene, speaking on behalf of the players, thanked the Zambia Police High Command for its continued support and said the new facilities and equipment would provide additional motivation for the squad.
“The unveiling of the new kit and team bus will serve as motivation for the players as we prepare for the challenges ahead,” Mweene said.
Nkwazi will begin their ZPL Transition League campaign on 3 October, when they host Roan United at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
The transition season is being played as part of the adjustment to Zambia’s domestic football calendar, with Nkwazi hoping to make a strong start in their opening fixture.
