Nkwazi hold Zanaco as Napsa beat Nkana

Log leaders Zanaco’s three game winning streak was brought to a halt this afternoon when they were held at home by an efficient Nkwazi for the two teams to draw 1 – 1 at Sunset Stadium.

Zanaco had to come from behind to ensure their unbeaten run is maintained after they went down in the 17th minute via a Steward Chikandiwa goal.

A well marshaled defensive partnership of Andrew Kwiliko and Ziyo Tembo was beaten by a quick build up on the left which saw the resultant cross placed beyond the reach of Toaster Nsabata by Chikandiwa who was arriving in the box late.

Zanaco pulled back the equaliser in the 34th minute when a Rodrick Kabwe cross found Moses Phiri who headed home despite the ball finding him in an awkward position.

Earlier in the day, a Brian Lubaba goal was enough to give Napsa Stars their first win in 3 games as they beat Nkana Fc 1 – 0 to move off the bottom of the log into 14th position on 10 points. Nkana remain in 8th position ahead of Forest Rangers and behind Lusaka Dynamos and Power Dynamos on goal difference.

In Choma, Green Eagles moved out of the relegation zone with a 3 – 1 win over visiting Nchanga Ranger.

ZamFoot’s Coach Franklyn reports from Choma that Nchanga were the better side in the early exchanges and scored midway through the first half through Malama Chisopa.

With Spencer Sautu playing only his third game since his return from injury, the U20 clearly the man of the match and he pulled on back for his team just before the close of the half with a long range drive by Spencer Sautu that deflected off a Nchanga defender.

In the second half eagles scored their second goal through Junior Mwila Phiri with a shot from outside the 18 yard area.

Nchanga pushed for an equaliser but the final nail was put in when a perfectly weighted defence splitting pass from Boyd Mwangelwa found an unmarked Sautu playing in the wide area who cut in to dribble past a defender and unleashed a shot into the far post for the third goal. After that it was about game management and Eagles had the luxury of playing to the gallery in the last 10 Minutes.

  1. Bravo ba nkwazi, we’re behind u.What a good start for the season.Beat them so that they continue chasing their coaches one after the other.

  2. Nkwazi are playing good soccer and for me it proves that Elijah Chikwanda at Nkwazi and Manfred Chabinga at Mighty are good coaches as even with average players straight from Division 1, their teams are playing well coordinated soccer. Accolades also to Perry Mutapa at Lusaka Dynamos with Fole Malembe under Simonda Kaunda playing good soccer, all new comers to the League!
