Epic, crunch, crispy and titanic is what describes FAZ/MTN super league week 13 fixture as 16 teams are expected to be in action.
Friday saw High Flying Nkwazi host Elite Lusaka Dynamos at Edwin Imboela Stadium with the Police sponsored outfit starting strong and dominating the match from the onset.
They created two good chances in the first half but Christopher Zulu ballooned his effort before Kenneth Kasanga hit his effort wide failing to make Monga Ndala work in the Lusaka Dynamos goal.
In the second half, Lusaka Dynamos came close after an Ocean Mushure brilliant cross but substitute Taddy Etekiema was seconds late. Etekiema and Derrick Bulaya had a chance to bury the game late in the match but miscommunication meant they stood in each other’s way and fail to utilize a loose ball that fell kindly to them in the box, 0-0 the match finished.
SATURDAY
Saturday will see more football action this weekend as it will have 5 super league fixtures
Green Buffaloes who have dropped into the relegation zone on 15th position as they have not recorded any win in the last 6 games will play host to Kabwe Warriors at Nkoloma stadium in an early kick-off to be played at 13:00 hrs local time.
Buffaloes have an edge over Kabwe Warriors in the league as they have only lost once to the magnificent people’s team on 19th September 2018 at home in the last 5 games and they have won twice, scoring 4 goals and allowing 3 goals but their form has drastically dropped following an emphatic mauling of Nkana in the early fixtures.
They will hope for a positive result but it won’t be easy against a rejuvenated Kabwe Warriors side. This one is a tough match to call as either side won’t want to drop points.
At the same venue, Red Arrows will host CAF confederation debutants in Napsa Stars in a late kick-off match. In the last 5 matches between the two, Red Arrows have only conceded once with 3 wins plus a draw and only one loss to their name.
If history is anything to go buy Red Arrows are in pole position to pick up a positive result. However, Napsa Stars should not be written off as they are fresh from beating stubborn Prison Leopards but it’s their inconsistency that will give Red Arrows hope and confidence to win the match.
In Ndola town the friendly city of Zambia, they will be a derby match as Indeni FC the super league refineries will play host to Buildcon at Indeni sports complex, the cage. Indeni who have only lost and conceded only a few goals at home are likely to keep the good record going as Buildcon confidence levels have dropped as they have not picked up any point in the last 3 matches but it being a derby, either team has an equal chance of a better result.
Chingalika boys, Kitwe United will be at home to resurgent Lumwana Radiants. The weeping boys of the league will be wary of the threat Radiants pose who have picked up wins in the last two fixtures but them playing at home, they will try to use home advantage and folk out a hard-fought win. A draw is the best result for Kitwe United but maybe just maybe they can pick up their first win of the season.
The game of the week, epic and crispy is the term to describe it as In-form Prison Leopards will host super league Tenant Chilumba’s Forest Rangers at President Stadium which is termed the fortress and slaughterhouse.
Forest Rangers are not shy of picking up away wins and they will provide a good test for prison at home. The last 5 games super league record for Prison Leopards should send shivers to the visitors as they have won 4 times with only one loss recorded. A win for either side should be the expected result as they are both vying for the top 4 spot.
Sunday
Not all days are Sundays but this coming Sunday is expected to be one of those memorable days as two super league giants forge a titanic battle.
The Wusakile boys, Likulu, Kalampa, or Nkana depending on how you want to call them, will be at home playing Team ya ziko, Zega Mambo aka Zesco United at Nkana Stadium.
Nkana looks to be moving away from the troubles that hit them as they cashed in on Mbombo to El Gouna of Egypt plus the ZRA sponsorship package, they look to be back on the recovery path and this match has come at the right time. Sate-Sate the landlord has stepped up and seems to be filling the void which Mbombo left he and Simon Mulenga was very crucial to the 2-1 win over Red Arrows in midweek.
A lot is at stake in this match. In the last 5 matches between them, Nkana has won 3 and lost 2. They have scored 7 goals and conceded 3 goals and both have kept clean sheets during their respective wins. Will Nkana keep the better record going or will Zesco United level matter? 90 plus added minutes will answer the tricky question
The battle for nature, for the greens, is what will close the week 13 fixtures when the Zambian National Service sponsored sides battle each other at Independence stadium of Choma the home of Green Eagles as they will welcome Young Green Eagles of Kafue district.
It is like a derby for men in uniform, it will be a difficult match to predict because the form for both teams has not been impressive as both have picked 6 and 5 points respectively in the last 5 games. Green Eagles have three draws with one win and one loss while Young Green Eagles who lie second from the bottom have one win with two losses and two draws. another tough match to call but Green Eagles have the upper hand being at home.
