Nkana’s Zulu Says Sorry After Heated Touchline Moment

Lusaka – Nkana FC player Charles Zulu has issued a public apology following a heated touchline exchange with Kansanshi Dynamos assistant coach Dennis Makinka during last weekend’s league match.

In his statement, Zulu accepted responsibility for his actions and acknowledged that his behaviour fell below football’s expected standards.

“I wish to express my sincere apology to Coach Dennis Makinka and Kansanshi Dynamos FC for my conduct during last weekend’s match,” Zulu said.

“My words were inappropriate and fell short of the standards of professionalism and respect expected in football. I take full responsibility and regret the incident.”

Makinka had earlier played down the confrontation, describing the incident as a moment that occurred in the heat of the game and insisting there were no hard feelings.

The Kansanshi Dynamos assistant coach also revealed his personal connection to the Nkana player, referring to Zulu as “my boy” and stating that he had played a role in his development earlier in his career. Makinka added that it was up to Zulu to decide whether to apologise or not.

The exchange took place during a tightly contested match that was settled late on. Dave Daka scored with the final kick of the game, sealing a dramatic 1-0 victory for Nkana.

While the on-field drama dominated proceedings, the touchline incident briefly drew attention away from the football. Zulu’s apology has since helped ease tensions, allowing both clubs to refocus on their league campaigns.
