Record 13-time MTN Super League champions Nkana have strengthened their squad with the signing of promising left-back Clivert Mwamba from Zambezi Portland FC on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
The 20-year-old defender arrives at Kalampa after an impressive 2025/26 campaign, playing a pivotal role in helping Zambezi Portland win the FAZ Copperbelt Division One League title. Mwamba also caught the eye with his performances during the club’s memorable Absa Cup run, earning a move to one of Zambia’s most successful football clubs.
Nkana Chief Executive Officer Mwansa Kapyanga believes the youngster has all the qualities to develop into a key player for the Aba Red.
“Clivert is a talented young defender who has shown excellent potential through his performances over the past season. He has earned this opportunity through hard work, consistency and a willingness to improve every day,” Kapyanga said.
“We believe Nkana Football Club is the right environment for him to continue his development. At just 20 years old, he has a bright future ahead of him and we are confident he has the character and commitment to grow into an important member of our squad.”
Mwamba expressed his excitement after completing the move, describing the opportunity to join Nkana as a major milestone in his career.
“I am very happy to join Nkana Football Club. This is one of the biggest clubs in Zambia and signing here is a huge achievement in my football career,” Mwamba said.
“I know what this badge represents and the expectations that come with it. My focus is to work hard every day, keep improving as a player and give everything I have whenever I get the opportunity to represent this great club.”
The defender becomes the latest young talent to join the Kitwe giants as Nkana continue to build for the future ahead of the new MTN Super League season. His arrival adds further competition at left-back as the 13-time Zambian champions look to challenge for domestic honours.
