Nkana fight back to share spoils with Zesco United

Nkana FC on Sunday afternoon put up a spirited fight to overcome a two goal deficit to draw 2 – 2 at home with Zesco United.

It was a deserved point for the hosts who were in control of play from the start but were just failing to contend with Zesco’s efficiency in front of goal.

A ball played through the middle in the 4th minute found Idris Mbombo who shot hard at goal under pressure but Mapulanga in the Nkana goal spilled the ball in the path of Lazarous Kambole who was fouled for a penalty as he attempted to finish.

Jesse Were made no mistake from the spot to give Zesco the lead.

Nkana continued to dominate but again it was Zesco that scored he second when Davy Daka surged forward with a run from near the centre circle beating three defenders on his path to find himself one on one with Malunga who saved his initial attempt.

Daka made no mistake from the rebound.

Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba started the come-back in the 33rd minute when he beat the offside trap and went on to Li  the ball over Jacob Banda who had left his line.

Ronald Chibwe completed the come-back in the 80th minute with a well taken shot from inside the box.

The result sees Zesco reclaim top spot going above Lumwana Radiants on goal difference.

Nkana on the other hand move one step up into 10th position.

  4. This site either needs new ownership or addition of news contributors. We can’t have an important forum such as this go to sleep for days on end simply because the owner of the site decides to be inactive. The size of the traffic on this site demands that content be updated frequently. At this rate I would be very supportive of anyone who chooses to open up a rival site to this. We need to abandon this ka ntemba mentality to doing things if we are to progress

  5. Nice fight back from Nkana. Watched the first 30 minutes of the game. Switched channels when it was 2-0. Nkana was on top but they could not just score. Zesco knew how to put the ball in the net.
